POSITION:

D&H Group LLP is seeking a Private Company Manager to join our growing team of professionals. We are looking for an experienced CPA who enjoys building long-term client relationships, mentoring team members, and delivering practical accounting, tax, and business advisory services to privately held businesses.

In this role, you will manage a portfolio of private company clients, oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and tax returns, and work closely with partners to provide proactive advice and exceptional client service. You will also play an important role in developing staff, improving internal processes, and contributing to the continued growth of the firm's private company practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of privately held businesses across a variety of industries, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and providing proactive accounting, tax, and business advisory services.
  • Review compilation and review engagement files, corporate and personal income tax returns, and other client deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with professional standards.
  • Develop strong client relationships by understanding each client's business objectives and providing practical advice to support their ongoing success.
  • Manage engagement planning, budgets, timelines, and workflow to ensure projects are completed efficiently and deadlines are met.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor staff and senior accountants by providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional development.
  • Collaborate with partners on client planning opportunities, practice development initiatives, and process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to technical training and knowledge sharing within the firm while promoting best practices across the private company team.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
  • CPA designation in good standing.
  • 2+ years of Canadian public practice experience working with private company clients. Candidates with more experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE, compilation and review engagements, and Canadian corporate and personal income tax requirements for privately held businesses.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and tax returns for private company clients.
  • Proficiency with CaseWare, Taxprep, Microsoft Office Suite, and other accounting software.
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accounting and tax matters clearly.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative approach to mentoring and developing team members.
