Job Description

Oracle is seeking a Principal Supply Chain Engineer specializing in PCBA Manufacturing Test Engineering to join our Manufacturing and Operations organization. In this highly technical role, you will develop, qualify, and deploy In-Circuit Test (ICT), Manufacturing Defect Analyzer (MDA), and Boundary Scan Test (BST) solutions for complex Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs).

As a member of the PCBA Advanced Process Technology Team, you will work directly with Design Engineering, Operations Engineering, external manufacturing partners, and test suppliers worldwide. You will help bring new hardware products from design through manufacturing qualification and high-volume production while improving test coverage, yield, quality, efficiency, and throughput throughout the product lifecycle.

This is an opportunity for an experienced PCBA test engineer to combine deep technical expertise with broad ownership across DFT, test program and fixture development, supplier qualification, NPI, and production test optimization.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
  • Test Program Development: Develop, debug, qualify, and optimize ICT, MDA, and Boundary Scan test programs across commercial test platforms, including Agilent, Teradyne, and TRI.
  • Test Fixture Development: Define requirements and review test fixture hardware designs for technical performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Fixture Maintenance: Establish and approve preventative maintenance requirements for production test fixtures, including probe replacement cycles and other critical maintenance activities.
  • Design for Test (DFT): Participate in DFT reviews and use coverage analysis and CAM software tools to evaluate test access and maximize test coverage. Recommend design and test improvements to optimize manufacturing test effectiveness.
  • Defect Analysis: Analyze PCBA test failures to identify defects such as shorts, opens, missing components, and incorrect component values.
  • Manufacturing Test Strategy: Establish PCBA ICT, MDA, and Boundary Scan test strategies and ensure alignment with upstream AOI/AXI inspection and downstream board functional testing.
  • Supplier Qualification: Direct and manage external manufacturing and test partners through the development, qualification, implementation, and approval of PCBA test hardware and software solutions for volume production.
  • NPI & Production Readiness: Ensure test fixtures, programs, processes, and technical and quality deliverables are qualified in alignment with new product schedules.
  • Quality & Process Capability: Audit and evaluate ICT and Boundary Scan processes using manufacturing quality and process capability methods, including yield analysis, GR&R, and Cpk.
  • Yield & Continuous Improvement: Partner with suppliers to improve test yield, efficiency, capacity, throughput, quality, and cost throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Root Cause & Corrective Action: Work across Design, Operations, Quality, and supplier teams to drive timely Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for PCBA test process quality issues during NPI and sustaining production.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Design Engineering, Operations Engineering, Quality, contract manufacturers, and test suppliers to resolve complex technical and manufacturing challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing test environments involving ICT, Boundary Scan, and/or MDA, including test development, DFT, test debug, and production implementation.
  • Strong working knowledge of ICT and Boundary Scan capabilities and commercial test equipment such as Agilent, Teradyne, and TRI.
  • Experience with DFT analysis and test coverage tools.
  • Knowledge of MDA and inspection/test technologies such as AOI, AXI, and Flying Probe.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools used to review PCB/PCBA designs, including test access, test pads, and clearances.
  • Experience working with external manufacturing partners building complex PCBAs.
  • Experience evaluating manufacturing test quality and process capability using methods such as yield analysis, GR&R, and Cpk.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical, process, and quality data.
  • Ability to operate independently and make meaningful technical and operational contributions to complex manufacturing initiatives.
