Our team is seeking a principal to join our Strategic Communications team in New York, NY or Washington DC executing cutting-edge communications strategy for clients ranging from nonprofits and advocacy groups to media start-ups and industry leaders.
What You Will Be Doing:Client Management- Lead and oversee multiple client initiatives or programs from conception through execution.
- Manages small work streams across multiple client accounts, ensuring timely delivery and coordination.
Comms Specific- Content Creation: Creates a wide range of high-quality communication materials, including strategy memos, presentations, press releases, talking points, op-eds, and speeches. Ensures materials are tailored to target audiences and advance strategic objectives.
- Media Engagement: Serve as the lead responsible for integrating media industry foresight directly into the overarching organizational communications roadmap. Proactively develop and champion media workstreams and campaigns. Review, edit, approve pitches and media lists.
- Strategic Messenger: Strategically identify ways to insert the client's narrative into media and thought leadership opportunities.
Collaboration- Work collaboratively across communications, data, creative, and paid advertising departments on behalf of clients; builds relationships within Precision.
- Well-prepared for meetings-offers clear updates, anticipates questions, and proposes solutions and next steps.
- Guides junior staff and interns, by reviewing and editing junior team members' work and providing written and verbal feedback.
Project & Time Management- Owns assigned tasks (e.g. understanding how work ladders up to the larger goal, meets deadlines without reminders, organizes documents for team sharing, comfortable with a variety of tools and hard skills, can manage multiple projects at once, manages up, if necessary).
- Meets deadlines set by client lead.
Strategy- Produces clear, persuasive content based on client strategy with minimal guidance; regularly seeks feedback and reviews and edits junior team members' work.
- Proactively uses available tools and sources to research and apply informed judgment to decisions, ensuring work aligns with strategy and long-term goals.
- Identifies potential issues or strategy gaps early, recommends adjustments, and supports teams in course-correcting.
What We Are Looking For:- 4+ years of experience in a communications role either in-house, agency, political campaign, government or consultancy environment. Internship experience considered.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong interest in the media and corporate, advocacy and political campaigns, experience in press relations, message development and strategic planning.
- Creativity, energy, detail-orientation, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

The salary range for this role is $85,000-105,000.
We are currently working in a hybrid model and require staff to work in the office 50% of working days per month.
