We are seeking a highly independent Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, and operate large-scale broadband device management platforms supporting millions of connected devices in public cloud environments.
This role requires end-to-end ownership across architecture, development, deployment, and production operations, with deep expertise in broadband technologies such as TR-069 (CWMP) and TR-369 (USP). The ideal candidate will drive next-generation device management capabilities, collaborate across engineering, product, operations, security, and vendor teams, and translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions.
Strong communication skills, production troubleshooting experience, and the ability to influence technical direction are essential. As AI is a core part of our engineering strategy, candidates are expected to leverage AI throughout the software development lifecycle to improve productivity, software quality, operational efficiency, delivery speed, and customer outcomes.
What You'll Do:
- Design, build, deploy, and support cloud-native platforms that manage millions of connected broadband devices.
- Develop scalable applications, APIs, and microservices using modern software engineering practices.
- Lead technical design, architecture, and platform evolution for broadband device management solutions leveraging TR-069 (CWMP) and TR-369 (USP).
- Build and operate highly available solutions on AWS and Kubernetes.
- Improve platform reliability through automation, observability, CI/CD, testing, and DevOps best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and participate in on-call support.
- Leverage AI-powered tools to accelerate development, testing, monitoring, operational support, and engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, security, operations, and vendor teams to deliver business-critical capabilities.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong expertise in broadband device management technologies, including TR-069 (CWMP) and TR-369 (USP).
- Hands-on development experience with Java and/or Python.
- Experience developing cloud-native applications in AWS.
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, microservices, REST APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience supporting platforms that manage millions of broadband devices.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or ELK.
- Experience applying AI to software development, testing, operations, or intelligent automation.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, influence architecture decisions, and mentor engineers.
