Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Principal or Sr Principal Electrical Engineer to support the Circuit Design organization in San Diego, CA.
As a member of the circuit design team, you will have ownership over the full product lifecycle for circuits development for the program enterprise. You will have the opportunity to perform detailed electrical circuit design, circuit level analysis, schematic capture, build component libraries, layout PCBs, built and test prototype hardware, design automated test equipment, design automated test scripts, support qualification, prepare documentation for your design and support hardware production manufacturing.
Essential Functions:
Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Conduct electrical analysis and/or develop LRU electrical designs
Review engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect connect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies
Review engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect connect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies has context menu
Perform component-level troubleshooting and electrical testing of CCAs using schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and electronic lab equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, logic analyzers).
Develop, revise, and maintain engineering documentation and configuration control.
Basic Qualifications:
For Principal Consideration: Bachelors in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5 years engineering related experience, OR Master’s in STEM with 3 years of experience, OR a PhD in STEM and 1 year of experience
For Sr Principal Consideration: Bachelors in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 8 years engineering related experience, OR Master’s in STEM with 6 years of experience, OR a PhD in STEM and 4 year of experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a final US Government Secret Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Secret DoD Clearance
Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on mixed circuit design
Experience with OrCAD, Pspice, or LTspice for circuit simulation
Experience with IPC and Military standards, and Northrop Grumman Circuit Card Design specifications
Experience brining up hardware from prototype design into production.
Experience with schematic capture and board layout using Expedition, Altium Designer or Mentor Graphics
Experience developing with FPGA, CPLD and micro-controllers
Experience with development and design of automated test equipment
Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,000.00 - $213,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
