The Environmental Effects Engineering (EEE) organization at Collins Aerospace is seeking an EMC/EMI Project Engineer who will thrive at the intersection of engineering rigor and project execution. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage across the full product development lifecycle, including pursuit and order capture, requirements development, electrical design, hardware integration, and test verification/validation. This position will require you to independently manage multiple projects and technical tasks.
In this role, you will be a key contributor, applying your analog and digital design experience to tasks such as component assessments, PCB design and layout, circuit card build-up. Efforts are typically to support nuclear radiation characterization testing of circuit card assemblies (CCA) for radio and display systems to ensure compliance in specialized environments such as Total Ionizing Dose, Neutron Displacement Damage, Ionizing Dose Rate, and Single Event Effects. You'll help prepare clear, well-supported technical documentation, contribute to design reviews, and advise on risk mitigation strategies as part of a cross-disciplinary team.

What You Will Do:In this EMC/EMI Electrical Engineer role, you will support the following types of activities:
- Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of Engineers to develop reliable, high-performance hardware designs that meet system requirements and operational specifications.
- Lead and execute circuit card design lifecycle activities including:
- Requirements capture
- Schematic capture
- Design documentation creation and maintenance
- Signal integrity analysis and validation
- Definition of board stack-ups and routing guidelines
- Coordination, guidance, and review of printed wiring board (PWB) layouts
- Prototype board population (including soldering) and component placement
- Hardware troubleshooting and debug
- Development and execution of test plans and reports
- Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Hardware integration activities with system and software teams
- Design, document, test, and troubleshoot digital and analog hardware using core electrical engineering principles. Designs may include the use of FPGAs, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, USB, and RS-232.
- Support qualification testing in collaboration with experienced engineers, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and environmental requirements.
Qualifications You Must Have:- Ability to obtain a US DoD Top Secret Security Clearance (Selected Candidate will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements)
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
- Practical circuit board design experience including schematic capture, PCB layout, and providing design guidance for board development
- Experience applying military aerospace testing standards (DO-160; MIL-STD-461; MIL-STD-704).
Qualifications We Prefer:- BS in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or related field
- Ability to apply digital design techniques and show working familiarity with RF concepts or RF test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, etc...).
- Ability to read/understand electronic schematics
- Ability to perform statistical reduction and interpretation of test data.
- Demonstrated ability to write and present technical material clearly and effectively.
- Ability to manage tasks and meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight.
This position is part of a larger team that creates a variety of Environmental Effects for TEMPEST, Nuclear, Electromagnetic Compatibility/Interference (EMC/EMI) and Power Quality qualification testing of Company products and programs to various military and commercial industry standards.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
