Full Job Description
Lead complex power distribution and generation projects, influence critical technical decisions, and help deliver high-impact industrial infrastructure in a senior EPC leadership role.

As a Principal Electrical Engineer with EPC experience, you will lead complex industrial power distribution and power generation projects. This is a senior technical leadership role for an engineer with strong electrical depth, sound engineering judgment, and proven success leading multidisciplinary teams in demanding project environments. You will guide key technical decisions, oversee project execution from concept through commissioning, and serve as a trusted partner to customers, project managers, vendors, and internal teams. While this role requires working knowledge of instrumentation and controls to coordinate broader EIC execution, deep expertise in every I&C specialty is not required. This position is based in Houston, TX, with typical travel of 10%-15%.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering execution for EPC projects involving industrial power distribution, power generation, and related facility infrastructure.
  • Direct and review electrical design deliverables, analyses, and construction packages to ensure technical quality, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical, instrumentation, and controls scope across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Work closely with project managers, customers, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to manage scope, priorities, schedules, and technical interfaces.
  • Lead or oversee power system studies and key electrical deliverables, including single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, grounding, lighting, cable documentation, and related design outputs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers while supporting safe, efficient, and timely project delivery.
  • Support business development and customer relationship efforts by contributing technical credibility, practical solutions, and strong project execution.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering, including power distribution and/or power generation projects.
  • Experience leading electrical engineering work within an EPC or design-build project environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, applicable codes and standards, and power system studies.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and controls sufficient to coordinate multidisciplinary EIC execution.
  • Working knowledge of ETAP and Power Tools (SKM) software
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage technical interfaces, and communicate effectively with customers and project stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer registration or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience in chemical, energy, or other heavy industrial markets.
  • Experience with medium- and high-voltage systems, power generation facilities, and related infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with control systems integration, field instrumentation, and multidisciplinary design coordination tools.

Relevant Industry Experience
  • Experience delivering complex industrial projects through multiple phases, from front-end development through detailed design, procurement support, construction, and commissioning.
  • Experience coordinating with owners, vendors, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines in fast-paced EPC project environments.
