Role description:Arcadis is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in the water and wastewater industry to join our growing Resilience Water team in the Northeast. While White Plains, NY is the preferred location, we welcome candidates located throughout the Northeastern United States.
In this highly visible leadership role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams, providing technical expertise and strategic guidance for the planning, design, and delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will lead the electrical design of treatment facilities, pump stations, and related infrastructure while partnering with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and sustainable solutions. As a recognized technical leader within Arcadis, you will help shape project delivery strategies, mentor engineering talent, and drive excellence across our Water Business Area.
Role accountabilities:As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and project delivery support for municipal and industrial water and wastewater projects throughout the Northeast and across Arcadis' broader North American operations. You will serve as a primary point of contact for clients on electrical engineering matters and play a key role in maintaining and expanding trusted client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of electrical systems for municipal and industrial water/wastewater facilities, including treatment plants, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
- Serve as a technical leader and trusted client advisor, providing subject matter expertise and oversight for complex electrical engineering projects.
- Develop and review electrical engineering deliverables, including power distribution systems, one-line diagrams, control schematics, equipment specifications, and construction documents.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams while supporting project scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk management objectives.
- Provide engineering support during construction through field investigations, site inspections, review of submittals and shop drawings, and response to contractor RFIs.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff while supporting client development, proposal pursuits, strategic growth initiatives, and the expansion of Arcadis' Water business.
Travel (up to 25%) is expected to support client and project needs.
Key Skills and Experience:To be successful in this role, you will possess extensive experience designing and delivering electrical systems for municipal and industrial water/wastewater facilities, with expertise in power distribution, instrumentation and controls, lighting, communications systems, and facility electrical infrastructure. You will have a proven track record of leading complex projects, building strong client relationships, supporting business development efforts, and mentoring engineering teams. A strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and experience with AutoCAD MEP, Revit, SKM Power Tools, short-circuit and coordination studies, arc flash analysis, and photometric studies are highly desirable. The ideal candidate will excel in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and consistently deliver high-quality solutions on schedule and within budget.
Qualifications & Experience:Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 15 years of progressive electrical engineering experience, with a significant focus on municipal and industrial water/wastewater facilities.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $220,000. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
