Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

We are looking for a Systems Engineer with a Cyber background to join the NGP Ground System program. The person in this role will support the senior technical authority for the day to day execution of the cybersecurity work stream, providing direct support to the Lead and Deputy Lead Cyber Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the design, implementation, verification, and documentation of NIST RMF 800-53 controls (e.g. translating and tracing technical specification requirements) and ASD STIG requirements across software and hardware components, both technical and program policies (documentation).
  • Determine control program applicability from customer flowed cyber controls, and determine gaps. Advise and shape resolution on gaps through working technical meetings with senior leaders and customers.
  • Partnering with development, test, and integration teams to "sell" and validate cyber requirements, drive remediation, and prepare artifacts for accreditation.
  • Embedding DevSecOps and software assurance practices into existing CI/CD pipelines and overseeing the secure integration of COTS/FOSS solutions.
  • Producing and updating security artifacts on an accelerated schedule and presenting concise status briefings to program leadership.
  • The role is mission critical, time sensitive, and requires an individual who can hit the ground running, navigate a complex stakeholder environment, and maintain the highest standards of security while delivering results within a tight window.


Basic Qualifications
  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD
  • SECRET clearance requited at time of application
  • DOORS experience - comfortable navigating in DOORS
  • Requirements development experience - Developed requirements object text, and VCRM fields
  • Has Software and software assurance review experience; has experience reviewing application and system logs for content
  • Experience reviewing NIST RMF controls
  • Experience presenting to a technical stakeholder base


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cleared at TS/SCI level
  • Professional Certifications: CISSP, Sec+


Primary Level Salary Range: $125,300.00 - $187,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
