Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Principal for the Architecture and Urbanism (A&U) division of the Global Business Area Places. The role will report to the Global Practice Group Director, Healthcare. The successful candidate will collaborate with other North America Practice Group Managers (Principals) to help grow the Behavioural Health practice in line with the Healthcare strategy and targets.

This person will have proven leadership skills and is motivated to grow the Behavioural Health practice across North America. The individual must have extensive knowledge and experience within the national Behavioural Health sector and/or strong proven business development capabilities across North America. Key responsibilities include leadership through growth in new business, being an active contributor to the healthcare strategy and driving its outward facing activity to elevate the brand in the marketplace.

Role accountabilities:

The ideal candidate for the position should possess a combination of leadership skills and expertise in the Behavioural Health sector to lead a dynamic team effectively and deliver compelling client presentations. Their adept problem-solving abilities and strong interpersonal skills are pivotal in fostering productive relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate proficiency in managing multiple project pursuits simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and conveying complex ideas succinctly.

Additional roles include:
  • Responsible for developing, in conjunction with the Global Practice Group Director, Pursuit Directors, and North America Practice Group Managers, the business development strategy on an annual basis to achieve growth
  • Responsible for the communication and delivery of the outward facing strategy across North America.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team of senior specialists by recruiting, setting objectives and reviewing performance to ensure staff are developed, driven and have the necessary skills to deliver the program objectives
  • Lead the identification and targeting of clients through the delivery of service excellence to deliver growth in organic revenue in the team
  • Develop business case, fee strategies and risk assessment in support of go-no-go reviews in conjunction with local Practice Group Managers
  • Build strong relationships and create successful teams
  • Develop enduring relationships with clients to understand their business needs and ensure client satisfaction to improve retention and deliver organic revenue growth
  • Works collaboratively with A&U business leaders in North America and our global Growth team to develop marketing and business development strategies to win new work
  • Drive strategy and content for external marketing communications, including special initiatives, external and internal events, conference speaking abstracts, media relationships, social media, design awards, etc.
  • Increase awareness and exposure of Arcadis's Behavioural Health practice to our clients and the profession locally, regionally and within the country
  • Demonstrate leadership by participating in professional organizations, activities, and services that further Arcadis's vision and values
  • Coach and mentor studio managers and service managers to ensure all projects are set up for success and appropriate governance is adhered to, with the goal of improved client satisfaction
  • Mentor, advise, and nurtures the current and future leaders across our studios creating succession in key client relationships
  • Direct the identification of talent in the team in both technical capability and sales and promote career development by directing individuals who are identified, to the appropriate development programs
  • Direct decisions on resource utilization within the team and maintain the integrity of the unit composition and pyramid management structure to enable resource optimization
  • Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the practice group's clients and the market to identify key trends and emerging opportunities
  • Develop relationships throughout Arcadis to foster cooperation and to maximize opportunities to cross-sell within the organization
  • Promote the use and continuous development of appropriate systems, procedures and protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or post-graduate qualification and/or fellowship in an appropriate professional institution
  • Registered Architect or equivalent preferred
  • Substantial experience (15 years or more) in a discipline, including 10+ years' experience in an Architecture consultancy and with a specific focus on the behavioural healthcare market place
  • Experience leading and implementing business strategies for growth
  • Experience managing business relationships at executive level
  • Significant experience on large-scale/highly complex projects
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship-management skills.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $147,000 - $220,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
