We are seeking a Pricing Manager to partner with attorneys, firm leadership, practice group leaders, business development and accounting to develop and execute pricing strategies that enhance competitiveness, strengthen client relationships, and drive financial performance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this highly visible role plays a key part in supporting rate strategy, alternative fee arrangements, and matter-level profitability analysis-ensuring pricing decisions are thoughtful, data-driven, and operationally executable.
Key Responsibilities:- Support billing attorneys in their annual client and matter rate assessment process.
- Support pricing strategy for client opportunities, including RFP responses, alternative fee arrangement proposals and reverse auctions in partnership with attorneys, Business Development, and firm leadership.
- Support firm leadership by ensuring proposed billing rate structures are properly approved.
- Prepare partner, client, and practice-level pricing analyses, including book-of-business reviews, profitability assessments, rate optimization opportunities, and financial performance reporting.
- Monitor client and matter profitability, identifying performance risks, analyzing staffing leverage, realization, and recommending corrective actions and alternative approaches when necessary.
- Assist with the development of financial models, pricing templates and dashboards that improve pricing decisions and profitability insights.
- Analyze market trends, competitive intelligence, client expectations, and financial performance data to inform practice-level pricing strategy, rate architecture and discount management.
- Develop compelling pricing narratives and value propositions while partnering with FP&A, Practice Management, and department leadership to drive process improvements, enhance client value, and improve firm financial performance.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field or education/experience equivalent.
- Minimum of ten (10) to thirteen (13) years of experience with law firm billing rate management including preparing and presenting analysis for firm leadership, and interacting with and supporting Partners and other billing attorneys.
- Must have experience performing comprehensive analyses of financial data and developing financial models and reports.
- Experience developing and managing complex matter budgets, analyzing variance data, and creating useful reporting tools is preferred.
- Experience with Elite 3E or Aderant Expert is required.
- Maintain confidentiality of firm financial matters.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing a team, including overseeing performance, conducting reviews, developing and implementing training, and supervising day-to-day operations. Experience measuring and managing performance at both individual and team levels, with increasing scope and responsibility.
