Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse who can work in Pre-Op and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role is vital in ensuring the highest quality of perioperative care for our patients, contributing significantly to our mission of delivering exceptional orthopedic services. Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate nursing activities in PreOp and PACU, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix for scheduled orthopedic case volumes.
  • Serve as the clinical resource and on-floor supervisor for RN, LPN, and patient care technician staff throughout the shift.
  • Manage patient flow and room turnover to maintain OR schedule efficiency and minimize delays.
  • Mentor and support nursing staff, particularly those new to ambulatory orthopedic care.
  • Monitor and manage patients recovering from general, regional, and neuraxial anesthesia, with expertise in pain management for orthopedic postoperative patients.
  • Provide thorough discharge instructions with emphasis on orthopedic-specific precautions, wound care, DVT prophylaxis, weight-bearing status, and follow-up care.
  • Oversee proper medication management, including controlled substance handling and documentation per DEA and facility policy.
  • Conduct and document daily environmental safety rounds and equipment inspections.

Experience
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Kansas, in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of perioperative nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ambulatory surgery or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Experience in PreOp and/or PACU nursing required; dual competency in both areas strongly preferred.
