Full Job Description
Purpose and Scope:

This position will report directly into the Head, SBM (Strategic Brand Marketing) Precision Medicine, and will work in close partnership with cross-functional partners including Medical & Development (M&D), Companion Diagnostic (CDx) Partners, Global Brand Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, Market Access and other functions to facilitate successful diagnostic launches.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Strategy Lead for Select Biomarkers / Indications - Develop and lead Precision Medicine Strategy for select biomarker programs (e.g. CLDN18.2 for Pancreatic Cancer & KRAS) including Commercial CDx partner evaluation, PM strategic plan / iGBP, launch planning, core global materials, KEEs, DTE and coordination with other PM colleagues to ensure implementation and localization in key geographies

US Support: late-stage Biomarkers / Indications - oversee pull through of Precision Medicine launch/commercialization strategy including DTE, market research, ad boards, material development and MLR review

Global PM Above Brand Lead - CDx Partner commercial governance, cross-functional stakeholder management, Precision Medicine Enterprise strategy/metric development, diagnostic testing education (DTE) development process, Pathologist KEE strategy and Global channel strategy for affiliate adoption of Global diagnostic strategy

Key Accountabilities Include:
  • Lead commercial assessment, recommendations for specific diagnostic opportunities and pull through of commercialization agreement deliverables/timing
  • Lead commercial evaluation of companion diagnostics platforms, actively seek new products/technologies, effectively partner and foster key collaboration with appropriate industry, academics, and government partners
  • Provide diagnostic leadership, support and expertise to Global and US Precision Medicine counterparts and cross-functional partners
  • Develop Precision Medicine strategy and corresponding marketing/operationalization plans to drive implementation for affiliates
  • Lead Dx insight generation priorities working closely with Commercial Insights
  • Garner and incorporate Commercial Insights into Global Diagnostic strategy
  • Define precision medicine KPIs, scorecards and analyze performance of programs and select biomarkers / indications on an ongoing basis
  • Support and lead agency relationships, workflow, and related expense budgets to establish the DTE communication pillars, scientific narrative and messaging for select biomarkers / indications
  • Develop and manage Global Key External Expert (KEE) steering committee to gain insight and alignment on diagnostic strategy recommendations
  • Development, evolution and management of all aspects of the virtual pathology account manager program (vPAM) across tumor/test types to align with Global strategy, including pull through with SBM Precision Medicine leads
  • Support US pull through of Global Precision Medicine strategy including DTE localization and market research, ad boards, material development and MLR review
  • Lead implementation and evolution of Enterprise Precision Medicine Ecosystem
  • Ensure adherence to Astellas policies relating to Ethics and Compliance standards and interactions with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Healthcare Organizations (HCOs) and Patient Organizations (POs).


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or other scientific discipline
  • Prior Diagnostic (CDx) / Medical Device & Pharma marketing experience within Oncology
  • Regional Diagnostic launch experience
  • Technical understanding of diagnostic technologies
  • 7+ years experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry
  • Strategic thinking skills to create a robust business case, analyze commercial and business information and devise strategy.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D in Life Science, MBA, Medical, or Pharmacy)

This position is based in Northbrook, IL. Remote work from anywhere in the US is available.

Salary Range

$199,220 - $284,600 (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and organizational equity considerations)
