JOB SUMMARY

The Plant Operations Manager provides day-to-day leadership, assuming P&L responsibility for all manufacturing operations, including safety, quality, and production metrics. This role involves analyzing operational performance and key metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency optimization and drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing. They also manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance and guiding cultural change to meet site and company goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Assess and analyze departmental performance to find ways to optimize efficiency and drive Operational Excellence. This includes analyzing and interpreting results, then summarizing and communicating insights (the "story behind the numbers") to management.
  2. Oversee and report daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual operational metrics to track progress and inform decision-making.
  3. Develop forecasts, measure actual performance against established plans and budgets, and identify key drivers behind results to guide future strategy.
  4. Develop operation systems, operating schedules, and workloads to ensure the most effective and timely use of production equipment and personnel.
  5. Partner with internal (e.g., Sales, Engineering) and external stakeholders to drive the execution of site and company goals.
  6. Align with and support capital equipment programs, ensure the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, and assess operational risks while implementing mitigation strategies.
  7. Develop and maintain constructive working relationships to effectively lead cultural change that embodies company values, while ensuring full compliance with all relevant government, financial, environmental, and labor regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.


PLANNED BUSINESS TRAVEL
  • This job requires 5% of planned business travel.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. Associate or bachelor's degree, preferred.
  • Combined experience in Plant Operations Management practices of 5 or more years with education is desirable.
  • Previous experience manufacturing industry-leading manufacturing operations in a LEAN environment
  • Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) Certifications desired.
