Description

Position Overview:

ERock is seeking a highly skilled and resilient Plant Engineer for our McCloud Power Station in El Paso, Texas. As a leader in distributed energy and microgrid solutions, ERock relies on top-tier technical expertise to keep our critical infrastructure running at peak reliability.

The Plant Engineer will serve as the primary technical authority for the McCloud Station. You will design, evaluate, and optimize power plant systems, drive root-cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures, and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives. Working in close collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and Production teams, you will ensure the facility meets strict performance, environmental, and safety compliance goals while maximizing equipment uptime. Reports to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical & Engineering Support: Serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical, electrical, and control systems at McCloud Station and provide engineering troubleshooting for plant disruptions.
  • Reliability & Root Cause Analysis: Lead root cause investigations into equipment anomalies and operational failures and develop long-term corrective and preventive actions.
  • Operations & Maintenance Collaboration: Partner with Maintenance, Operations, and Planning teams to align engineering initiatives with production goals and provide engineering data to optimize the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Capital Projects & Upgrades: Manage small to mid-sized capital projects from conception through execution, including budgeting, scheduling, equipment specification, and contractor oversight.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement process modifications and continuous improvement practices to increase generating efficiency, reduce emissions, and lower life-cycle costs.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure engineering modifications and operations comply with local, state, federal, and company requirements, including lockout/tagout, safe work permitting, environmental permits, and industrial safety standards.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain, update, and review plant technical documentation, including piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical one-lines, CAD drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor.


Requirements

Basic (Required) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Three or more years of engineering experience in an industrial environment, power generation facility, or chemical processing plant.
  • Proficiency with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience reading and modifying technical drawings, schematics, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance strategies and familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, arc flash safety, confined spaces, and environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation, reporting, engineering analysis, and company system use.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check if required for site access or company vehicle use.
  • Ability to work assigned schedules and support McCloud Station operating needs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with distributed energy resources, microgrids, or reciprocating engine generator systems.
  • Strong skills in CAD software, manufacturing process simulation, or PLC and control systems.
  • Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or structured continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Professional Engineer license or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional designation.
