Full Job Description
The Plant Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving equipment reliability, and supporting maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production operations. This role combines process engineering, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize plant performance and minimize downtime.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintenance Engineering

  • Work with and support plant supervision to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and reliability of manufacturing equipment, machinery, and supporting systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation-related issues.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs, upgrades, and installations.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance planning activities.


Reliability and Continuous Improvement

  • Drive equipment reliability initiatives to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Potentially utilize reliability tools such as FMEA, RCA, TPM, and CMMS systems.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) including OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and other appropriate metrics.
  • Support capital projects and equipment modernization efforts.
  • Recommend and implement cost-saving and productivity-enhancing solutions.


Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
  • Participate in job safety analyses and risk assessments.
  • Support lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and machine safety initiatives.
  • Assist with regulatory audits and safety inspections.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Train and assist operators and maintenance technicians on equipment operation and maintenance best practices.
  • Support new product introductions and process validations.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and equipment manufacturers.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3-7 + years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, maintenance engineering, or a related role.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with PLCs, automation systems, and industrial controls.
  • Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering principles.

  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management systems.
