Overview

We currently have an opportunity for a Plant Controller at our Manufacturing Facility in Jacksonville, IL. Relocation Assistance may be considered.

Responsibilities

The Plant Controller serves as the senior finance leader for the manufacturing facility, providing strategic financial leadership and business partnership to drive operational performance, profitability, and sustainable growth. This role shapes financial strategy through budgeting, forecasting, cost management, capital investment analysis, and governance while ensuring a strong internal control environment. Working as a key member of the plant leadership team, the Plant Controller influences business decisions, enables operational excellence, and provides independent financial insight that supports achievement of plant and enterprise objectives.

Financial Leadership

  • Lead the plant's financial management by providing strategic oversight of the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow to support operational and financial performance.
  • Direct the annual operating plan, quarterly forecasts, and financial planning processes to align plant objectives with enterprise priorities.
  • Lead the monthly financial close process and communicate timely, accurate financial results and performance insights to plant leadership.

Business Partnership

  • Partner with the Plant Manager and leadership team to evaluate business performance, identify opportunities, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations that improve profitability, productivity, and overall business performance.
  • Influence cross-functional decisions through data-driven insights and financial expertise.

Cost Management & Operational Finance

  • Lead standard costing, manufacturing cost analysis, and variance reporting to improve operational efficiency and cost performance.
  • Identify and evaluate cost reduction, productivity improvement, and value creation opportunities across plant operations.
  • Analyze financial trends and operational performance to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Capital & Investment Management

  • Lead the financial evaluation of capital investment opportunities by developing business cases, return on investment analyses, and financial recommendations.
  • Partner with operations leadership to prioritize capital investments that maximize long-term business value.

Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain a strong internal control environment supporting financial integrity, inventory, fixed assets, procurement, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), corporate financial policies, and accounting standards.
  • Lead responses to internal and external audit activities and drive timely resolution of audit findings.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop plant finance team members to strengthen organizational capability and financial stewardship.
  • Foster collaboration across finance and operational functions to promote accountability, continuous improvement, and informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 6+ of progressively responsible finance or accounting experience, including manufacturing finance experience within a manufacturing environment.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, financial analysis, and internal controls.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing finance, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of internal controls, financial governance, and accounting principles.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial information and translate insights into business recommendations.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence cross-functional decision-making.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead teams, build collaborative partnerships, and drive continuous improvement.
