The Planner supports the end-to-end planning of finished instruments, refurbished instruments, and customer facing materials to help ensure product availability and reliable order fulfillment across Leica Biosystems' global distribution network and Vista and Shanghai manufacturing sites. This role balances customer demand, inventory investment, and supply availability while supporting planning decisions that ensure materials are positioned appropriately to meet business and customer requirements.
The Planner works closely with the Global Sales organization to manage customer orders, establish and communicate Customer Ready Dates (CRDs), and provide visibility into product availability and order fulfillment. The role serves as a key planning partner to sales teams regarding order status, supply constraints, priorities, and fulfillment commitments, while escalating complex issues and supporting broader business decisions.
A key responsibility of this position is executing inventory management strategies across global distribution centers and the Vista site. The Planner will own day-to-day inventory planning activities, establish appropriate inventory targets within defined guidelines, and support broader inventory strategy decisions to maintain customer service levels while minimizing excess inventory, reducing holding costs, and improving inventory turns.
This position requires close collaboration with Global Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Global Sales to align demand, supply, inventory, and customer priorities. The Planner will identify and communicate supply or capacity risks, support mitigation activities, and help maintain customer commitments and overall business performance.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Planning & Procurement and is part of the Planning and Procurement team located in Vista, California. This is an onsite role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Execute planning activities for finished instruments, refurbished instruments, and customer-facing materials to support product availability and achievement of customer delivery commitments.
- Own day-to-day order management activities while supporting the development and execution of inventory strategies that balance customer requirements with inventory investment, holding costs, and inventory turn objectives
- Serve as a planning contact for sales partners regarding order fulfillment, product availability, customer priorities, and delivery commitments, escalating complex issues as needed
- Partner closely with the Global Sales organization to manage customer orders, establish and communicate Customer Ready Dates (CRDs), and provide timely visibility into order status and product availability.
- Participate in cross-functional planning activities with Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Global Planning to support operational and customer service objectives
The essential requirements of the job include- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 3 or more years of planning experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of planning, forecasting, and analysis to drive proper inventory
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:- ERP System experience, SAP preferred and knowledge and understanding of order management.
- Driving continuous improvement leveraging AI tools and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal skills - the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
The annual salary range for this role is
$72,500 - $90,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
