Full Job Description
Location: Burbank, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Compensation: $125,000-$200,000 annually, DOE

Block LLP is seeking an experienced Plaintiff-Side Attorney to join our growing legal team. We are hiring attorneys for both our Personal Injury and Habitability Departments and welcome candidates with substantial experience in either practice area.

Depending on their experience and interests, the attorney will handle personal injury matters or habitability cases involving unsafe housing conditions, landlord negligence, tenant harassment, wrongful eviction, and related claims. Candidates are not required to have experience in both practice areas.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of relevant legal experience and can independently manage cases from initial evaluation through settlement, litigation, or trial.
What You'll Do
  • Independently manage a caseload from initial evaluation through resolution.
  • Evaluate liability, damages, legal issues, and case value to develop effective strategies.
  • Draft and review complaints, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Handle court appearances, mediations, settlement conferences, and negotiations.
  • Prepare cases for arbitration or trial when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case strategy and progress.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, case managers, and support staff.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys and staff when appropriate.
  • Uphold the firm's commitment to exemplary client service and professionalism.


Requirements
  • Active California Bar license in good standing.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant legal experience.
  • Experience in plaintiff-side personal injury, habitability, landlord-tenant law, or civil litigation.
  • Ability to independently manage cases from evaluation through resolution.
  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and case evaluation skills.
  • Experience drafting substantive pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines effectively.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional client service.
  • Ability to work full-time and on-site at our Burbank office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant plaintiff-side litigation experience.
  • Experience handling depositions, court appearances, mediations, and settlement conferences.
  • Trial preparation or first-chair trial experience.
  • Experience managing a high-volume caseload.
  • Leadership or mentorship experience.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus.
