Job Summary
Provides direct care to LGBTQ+ patients and serves as a consistent care coordinator through the continuum of care, assessing the physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs of the patient. Directs patients to the next appropriate service and tracks their progress. Assures that all patients receive appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, medical screening and medical evaluation whenever indicated, and that all medical patient care is appropriately documented in the medical record.  The physician is a lead member of the team, focusing on LGBTQ+ primary care, transgender-affirming care, HIV care, HIV prevention care, screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, and gynecologic care. 

Essential Functions

  • 1. Maintain current working knowledge of all local, Federal, State and other regulatory agency laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to assigned programs. This includes cultural and linguistic healthcare and outreach services, quality management, and quality improvement standards to insure compliance.
  • 2. As needed, assist with policy changes as necessary.
  • 3. Maintain compliance with Hospital Policies and Medical Staff By Laws, Rules and Regulations and all requirements for medical staff privileges.
  • 4. Assist Associate VP with development of practice standards and oversight of compliance with standards to establish and maintain the scope of services required, meeting the needs of patients.
  • 5. Assist with development of clinically relevant, evidenced based, best practices for patient care.
  • 6. Provide direct medical treatment to patients as needed.
  • 7. Participate in the development of a clinically relevant, outcome evaluation process as needed.
  • 8. Liaison and collaborate with community physicians, hospital staff and other professional agencies with regard to patient services. Assist in the assessment of community needs to determine program and service priorities.
  • 9. Timely and quality completion of all required documentation necessary for regulatory and financial purposes.
  • 10. Responsible to assure coverage in your absence via working with CMO to appoint another MD.


Qualifications

  • MD Required
  • Work experience in an outpatient setting preferred. Primary care experience required; LGBTQ+ clinical experience required including STI care,

    HIV prevention care and gender affirming care.                                    HIV care experience preferred.

  • Qualified for membership on the Medical Staff. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Work effectively as a member of a culturally competent multidisciplinary team, have a thorough understanding of member rights, and knowledge of basic medical practice. (Medium proficiency)
  • Physician - New York State Board of Medicine Required
