Our Podiatry Practice is seeking a Physician Assistant to assist podiatric surgeons as the first assistant during surgical procedures and provide comprehensive patient care in the office setting while sharing on-call responsibilities for podiatric patients in the Emergency Department, hospital, and outpatient practice.
Overview of responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Serve as first assistant to podiatric surgeons during surgical procedures and provide patient care in office and inpatient settings.
- Conduct and document pre-operative history and physical examinations in accordance with medical center policies.
- Educate patients on surgical procedures, expected outcomes, and post-operative recovery.
- Perform wound care, incision and drainage, debridement, drain removal, and superficial foreign body removal.
- Provide podiatric treatments and procedures within the credentialed scope of practice.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in collaboration with podiatric surgeons and in compliance with federal, state, and PA regulations.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, billing information, and compliance with reimbursement standards.
- Protect patient rights, confidentiality, and ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and communicate effectively with physicians and leadership.
- Provide on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, for the Emergency Department, inpatients, and assigned outpatient podiatric cases.
Qualifications:Education: Graduate of certified Physician Assistant Program
Licenses/Registrations: Current Physician Assistant Licensure in Massachusetts
Experience: Three years in a Professional Physician Assistant Role that includes podiatric/orthopedic surgery
Special Aptitudes & Activities: Must be able to provide effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide and follow both verbal and written instructions, and provide a conduit between the patient and medical/ nursing staff. They must relate effectively to pediatric, adult and geriatric populations applicable to a culturally diverse, broad age spectrum population.
