Responsibilities The George Washington University Hospital 's Medical-Surgical Rehabilitation Department is seeking a Physical Therapist to join our rehab team full-time to support the therapy needs of our hospitalized patients. GW Hospital is a 385 bed Level 1 Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center, and Comprehensive Stroke Center located in the heart of Washington, DC. GW offers clinical expertise and world-class care in a variety of areas including cardiac, cancer, neuroscience, critical care, trauma, women's health, organ and tissue transplant, and advanced surgical techniques. Our rehab therapists work at the top of their license alongside other healthcare professionals to enhance patients' functional recovery and self-actualization, provide consultative services, make recommendations, and elevate patient care through unit and system-based quality initiatives, evidence-based research and practice, and true interdisciplinary care.
Position Summary - Perform detailed assessments of adult patients' neurological, musculoskeletal, sensory, cognitive, and functional needs in the acute hospital setting.
- Create and implement individualized therapy plans that support patients' functional recovery and transition of care planning.
- Work in close coordination with nurses, physicians, rehab staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients.
- Offer guidance and education to patients and caregiver
Qualifications Qualifications Job Requirements: - Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program
- Experience in a hospital setting preferred
- Must have DC License before start of employment
- Current certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals by AHA or Red Cross
