Position Summary

The Pharmacy Manager serves as the Manager of Record for either WellPower Pharmacy or Wellshire Pharmacy and is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation including: regulatory compliance, and strategic development of pharmacy services. The Pharmacy Manager provides direct supervision to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns, and other assigned staff while ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered pharmacy operations. This position is a hybrid role that includes leadership responsibilities as well as direct patient care through dispensing services, medication management, and pharmacist-led clinical programs. The Pharmacy Manager works collaboratively with pharmacy leadership, medical providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support organizational goals, improve patient outcomes, maintain financial sustainability, and expand access to integrated pharmacy services.

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications.

Job Duties & Functions:

Regulatory Compliance and Operations
  • Serve as Pharmacist Manager of Record with the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy and fulfill all requirements and maintain all records required by Colorado Pharmacy Rules and Regulations and applicable federal regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, payer, accreditation, and organizational requirements related to pharmacy operations, medication management, recordkeeping, controlled substances, and patient care services.
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant dispensing.
  • Partner with the Lead Pharmacy Technician to coordinate workflow, staffing utilization, operational priorities, and technician responsibilities.
  • Maintain records required for and assist with responses to audits conducted by insurance plans, PBMs, DEA, DME suppliers, accreditation organizations, and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse programs.
  • Ensure established procedures related to quality assurance, medication safety, controlled substances, inventory management, hazardous drug handling, and waste disposal are followed.
  • Conduct routine audits and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Leadership and Personnel Management
  • Provide direct supervision, leadership, coaching, and performance management for assigned pharmacy staff.
  • Participate in the selection process for internal and external job candidates. Onboard, train, develop, and retain qualified pharmacy personnel.
  • Complete performance evaluations, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, address performance concerns, and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional development, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness within the pharmacy team.

Clinical Services and Patient Care
  • Provide pharmacist services as outlined in the Staff Pharmacist Job Description.
  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to improve medication outcomes, patient engagement, quality measures, and continuity of care.
  • Ensure pharmacy services support organizational goals related to integrated care, health equity, and value-based outcomes.
  • Precept pharmacy students, residents, and other learners as assigned.
  • Support staff education, competency assessment, licensure maintenance, and professional growth.
  • Maintain a trauma-informed environment that promotes employee wellbeing, psychological safety, and patient-centered care.

Financial and Strategic Management
  • Maintain inventory levels within established financial guidelines and ensure effective inventory management practices.
  • Maintain inventory within financial guidelines established by the Director of Pharmacy Services. Oversee and participate in the annual on-site physical inventory count, typically conducted on a Saturday, to ensure inventory accuracy, compliance with regulatory requirements, and completion of all required inventory documentation.
  • Monitor pharmacy performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, patient outcomes, service quality, and financial performance.
  • Support revenue-generating pharmacy and clinical programs and identify opportunities for growth and service expansion.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of short- and long-term departmental goals consistent with organizational priorities.

Organizational Responsibilities
  • Participate in the Saturday on-call rotation as assigned.
  • Serve as the pharmacy department representative on organizational committees, workgroups, quality improvement initiatives, safety activities, and other projects as assigned.
  • Follow all departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the pharmacist Code of Ethics and all professional standards of practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy Services

EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of experience as a pharmacist. At least 2 years of supervisory experience required preferred. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Ability to supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

  • Ability to present to diverse audiences from ethnically and socioeconomically diverse communities.

Experience
  • LICENSURE: Colorado Pharmacist license in good standing.


Physical Requirements:

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. Required manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone, and other office and/or clerical equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. and be able to communicate effectively with them. Must maintain professional demeanor with People We Serve medical staff and employees.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS: Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans. Must understand people from all walks of life.
