About the Role

McKesson Canada is seeking a Registered Staff Pharmacist to join our growing Specialty Pharmacy team. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate dispensing of specialty medications, providing clinical expertise and patient counseling, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring compliance with all provincial regulatory requirements and company policies.

What You'll Do
  • Accurately review, verify, prepare, and dispense prescriptions.
  • Provide patient counseling, medication education, and follow-up as required.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinics, nurses, drug plans, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Adapt, renew, and initiate prescriptions in accordance with provincial regulations and scope of practice.
  • Provide medication and drug information to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
  • Support specialty medication management, including biologics and complex therapies.
  • Supervise and provide oversight to pharmacy assistants, technicians, and support staff.
  • Ensure prescription pricing, reimbursement, and payment processes are completed accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, privacy requirements, and McKesson policies.
  • Complete adverse event (AE) and product quality complaint (PQC) reporting as required.
  • Monitor cold-chain requirements and temperature logs to ensure medication integrity.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and required training programs.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and industry partners.


Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (BScPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
  • Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the applicable Provincial College of Pharmacists.
  • Professional Liability Insurance.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacist in a retail, hospital, specialty, or community pharmacy setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience dispensing, verifying, and counseling patients on prescription medications.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy regulations, standards of practice, and medication management processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Specialty pharmacy experience.
  • Experience with biologics, specialty medications, or complex drug therapies.
  • Working knowledge of Kroll Pharmacy Management Software.
  • Experience supporting medication reimbursement, patient support programs, or drug access programs.
  • Previous experience in a regulated healthcare environment.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) or additional language capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and patient advocacy skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional healthcare teams.


Work Environment & Schedule
  • Full-time position.
  • Primarily office-based and pharmacy environment.
  • Regular use of computer systems, pharmacy technology platforms, and telephone communication.
  • May require standing for extended periods while performing dispensing and verification activities.
