Description
Provides clinical and distributive pharmaceutical services to ensure safe, effective, and timely medication therapy for patients. Compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with authorized orders and prescriptions. Reviews and evaluates medication orders for appropriateness, validity, and safety; monitors the quality of pharmacy services; and provides medication and drug therapy information to patients and hospital staff. Maintains required pharmacy records and supervises supportive personnel, ensuring accuracy of their work. Performs all duties in accordance with federal and state laws, hospital policies, and under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager.
Shift/Schedule: Day Shift - Four 10-hour shifts per week.
Requirements
EDUCATION:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy program.
EXPERIENCE:
Hospital pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Must possess a valid and current Mississippi Pharmacist license.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and clinical skills. Must be able to work effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals. Must be able to work independently and as part of a healthcare team while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations and hospital policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must have good visual acuity and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to safely handle and work with hazardous pharmaceuticals in accordance with established safety procedures. Requires effective verbal and written communication skills, manual dexterity, and the ability to perform duties in a fast-paced hospital pharmacy environment. Must be able to work the assigned schedule, including four 10-hour day shifts.
