Full Job Description

The Pharmacist delivers complex pharmacy support and operations assignments independently, managing scope, quality, and timelines with minimal guidance. Applies complete practical knowledge of pharmacy operations across varied tasks, maintaining awareness of upstream and downstream workflow impacts. Communicates within the function and with select partners to confirm requirements, SLAs, and handoffs. Solves complex problems using established methods; recommends and implements process improvements within approved change controls. Makes independent decisions guided by experience and policy, escalating novel risks or cross-team trade-offs as appropriate.

Hours: 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, no weekends required

Responsibilities:

1. Obtain valid prescription information from licensed veterinarian or designated agent prior to dispensing.
2. Initiate and receive calls and faxes for medication orders.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of and take action in clarification of medication orders.
4. Dispense medications according to prescription from the licensed veterinarian.
5. Prepare medication for use by end-user according to current standards of practice in the profession of veterinary pharmacy.
6. Ensure that medications are labeled appropriately and that products are delivered to end-users in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
7. Answer questions, as appropriate, from other healthcare providers and end-users regarding medication and approved usage.
8. Maintain records of all drugs dispensed and of any and all prescriptions filled.
9. Prepare all reports as required (i.e. daily dispensing log, monthly usage reports).
10. Ensure that drug products, in the pharmacy, are stored in appropriate conditions.
11. Maintain a high standard of customer service.
12. Provide back-up service for other pharmacies as needed.

13. Cross-trained across all pharmacy operational functions; performs tasks including inventory replenishment, wave orders, prescription entry, pick/tote orders, order entry, e-filing in SharePoint, WMS inventory/order control, clinic/CER communication, resolving order issues, packing/closing orders, printing Rx from SharePoint, and canceling orders in WMS as applicable - not limited to these responsibilities.

14. Maintains active pharmacist license in home state and obtains/maintains required non-resident state licenses as business needs dictate to support multi-state operations and customer service.

15. Performs related duties as assigned.

16. Requires Pennsylvania active pharmacist license.

Education:

Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year Bachelor's Degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of eight (8) years directly related and progressively responsible experience; a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Unrestricted, current state license as a Registered Pharmacist in resident state is required.
