The Patient Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining patient safety initiatives and ensuring hospital compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, DNV/NIAHO). The PSAO works collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical departments to promote a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement across the system. The Patient Safety Specialist will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks that could harm patients, staff, visitors, or the organization. The Patient Safety Specialist will handle all claims management and will partner with departments such as Compliance, Quality and malpractice carrier.
Functions:
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the hospital's patient safety and risk program
Analyze safety event reports and conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and Plan-Do-Study Act.
Promote a culture of safety through staff education, reporting systems, and process improvements.
Coordinate patient safety committees and support proactive risk assessments
3 year RN experience in a hospital setting (required)
1 year behavioral health experience (preferred)
