About this opportunityJoin Ericsson's Intellectual Property Rights and Licensing department as a patent professional specializing in Wi-Fi and related communications. Come play a key role in developing impactful intellectual property assets that reflect Ericsson's culture of innovation. In this position, you will identify potentially patentable inventions, evaluate their technical, business, and legal viability, and secure enforceable patent protections across multiple jurisdictions - all in alignment with Ericsson's broader strategies. Responsibilities include preparing and prosecuting patent applications, providing guidance on Wi-Fi and other wireless standards, managing patent portfolios, and creating licensing packages for prospective licensees, as well as participating in licensing negotiations and supporting the execution of license agreements that deliver meaningful business value. Candidates must be licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and hold a law license in at least one U.S. state.
What you will do- Serve as a technical expert on Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11) and other short-range wireless standards.
- Conduct thorough assessments of invention disclosures to make well-informed decisions on patent filings.
- Independently manage and prioritize the patent docket.
- Prepare patent applications independently or in collaboration with outside counsel, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Prosecute patent applications to secure patent protections across various jurisdictions.
- Efficiently manage patent portfolios and prepare claim charts.
- Support patent assertion, licensing activities, oppositions, and invalidation proceedings.
The skills you will bring- 5+ years of related patent experience.
- Strong internal communication skills.
- Expertise in patent applications, patent claims, patent prosecution, and patent infringement matters, with a particular focus on Wi-Fi patents.
- Solid knowledge of intellectual property laws and IP management principles.
- Experience managing intellectual property portfolios, including business method and design patents.

• LOCATION: Santa Clara, CA: 160,500 - 210,525 USDShort-Term Variable Compensation Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit's objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your TimeYour work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
