Standard Schedule: Core departmental hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. CT. Due to the nature of printing operations, the Parts Manager will frequently work extended hours to meet urgent customer demands.
After-Hours Availability: Required to carry a company-issued cell phone and respond to urgent or escalated business requests outside of standard operating
Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel required (less than 10%), primarily to the factory in Germany or key customer sites
FLSA Status: Exempt/Salary
Compensation: $85,000 - $105,000 USD +10% annual bonus potential
Job Responsibility: The
Parts Manager is responsible for leading a profitable, efficient, and customer-centric Parts Department. This is achieved through strategic inventory management, data-driven pricing models, strong team leadership, and the continuous refinement of processes. The ultimate goal is to ensure Koenig & Bauer is "the easiest company to do business with" by delivering outstanding technical communication, rapid order fulfillment, and flawless execution, while building a foundation for broader service operations..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Departmental Leadership & Service Integration- Goal Alignment: Establishes and guides departmental activities to hit annual revenue and profitability targets while maintaining elite levels of customer satisfaction.
- Team Management: Manages, trains, and motivates personnel across the Parts Department. Oversees scheduling, daily operations, and performance management.
- Service Lifecycle Integration: Collaborates with Field Service dispatch to proactively project parts requirements for upcoming preventative maintenance, machine installs, and emergency repairs, ensuring a seamless bridge between material readiness and technician labor.
- Process Optimization: Drives continuous process improvement to streamline workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and increase overall service department efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partners closely with the Koenig & Bauer factory in Germany, domestic warehouse teams, accounting, and field service departments to ensure seamless project execution.
2. Supply Chain & Inventory Control- Inventory Optimization: Monitors and balances parts inventory to maximize order fill rates while controlling carrying costs.
- Consignment Management: Plans, fulfills, and audits parts consignment inventories located at strategic customer sites according to contractual agreements.
- Lifecycle Management: Minimizes inventory obsolescence by executing quarterly scrap cycles and system adjustments according to company documentation policies.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Leads regular meetings with Warehouse and Finance teams to research and resolve undocumented returns or receiving variances.
- Audit Support: Dedicates departmental staff and technical expertise to support the comprehensive year-end physical inventory count.
3. Customer Experience & Commercial Strategy- End-to-End Order Management: Oversees the order lifecycle from initial request/research, technical quotation, and factory sourcing to final delivery and customer follow-up.
- Pricing Strategy: Executes pricing structures that balance market competitiveness with corporate gross margin goals. Manages standard markups and negotiates custom factory quotes for large accounts.
- Service Contract Strategy: Actively supports the expansion of the Service Select Program by tracking parts-consumption trends to help design and price bundled service and parts maintenance contracts.
- Operational Metrics Management: Monitors and reports on department-wide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Escalation & Advocacy: Serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical parts inquiries, billing disputes, and high-priority customer complaints.
Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a relatedfield preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in parts operations, industrial inventory management, or industrial sales. Experience within the printing/packaging industry is highly preferred.software support.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with modern ERP systems (e.g., SAP,Oracle) and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, data analysis).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Demonstrated management, strategic leadership, and personnel development skills.
- Proven track record of driving operational changes that intersect across supply chain, labor, and customer service.
- Strong strategic planning capability-ability to look beyond day-to-day fulfillment to build an operational roadmap.
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to translate complex technical specifications into clear terms for customers and internal stakeholders. Must collaborate effectively with international factory partners.
Physical Demands of Job: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or telephone (up to 5.5+ hours per day). Frequent face-to-face, video and email interaction with international teams and North American clients.
