Job Description

General Summary:

The Package Engineering Associate Director has an established track record of both technical and project leadership, exerting broad influence both within and outside the Technical Operations organization. This role is accountable for effectively managing overall relationships with key partners and ensuring the success of manufacturing operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership in one or more technical areas
  • Responsible for overall relationship with key suppliers of materials, technology and manufacturing resources
  • Coordinates activities and leverages best practices across multiple projects and suppliers
  • Manages and designs key packaging activities including packaging design and specification, equipment and tooling design and qualification, labeling, material selection, testing, and sourcing
  • Collaborates with multiple stakeholders including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and Marketing to meet project timelines and objectives
  • Liaises with Regulatory Affairs and Quality to provide packaging documentation supporting process validation, product release and regulatory filings
  • Evaluates process performance to lead continuous improvement activities and apply best practices for commercial products
  • Assists in the creation of department goals

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in one or multiple packaging disciplines including materials and closure systems, design of secondary and tertiary components, component compatibility, component qualification, equipment installation and qualification.
  • Experience supporting packaging for pharmaceutical products from research through registration and launch
  • Advanced knowledge of cGMP9s and associated CMC regulatory considerations in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Emerging knowledge across multiple technical areas
  • Strong communication, collaboration and team building skills; ability to connect with all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects with high degree of effectiveness
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced, strong-matrix work environment
  • Ability to travel domestic and international (approximately 30%)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, Material Engineering, or a relevant discipline
  • Typically requires 8 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of advanced education and experience

Pay Range:

$160,200 - $240,200

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
