Qualifications

• Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist credential or state authorization required.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in orientation and mobility, visual impairments, or similar field needed.
• Preferred experience with students across multiple grade levels.
• Strong skills in communication, collaboration, and time management essential.
• Willingness/ability to travel between school sites and work in various environments necessary.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate students' orientation and mobility needs in various environments.
• Provide individualized instruction in safe and independent travel skills.
• Teach spatial awareness, sensory efficiency, route planning, and cane use effectively.
• Develop and monitor orientation and mobility goals for IEPs.
• Recommend mobility supports and environmental modifications as needed.
• Collaborate with educators, families, and service providers for holistic support.
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary evaluations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of progress and monitor students.
• Travel to assigned schools for instruction as required.
