Job Title:Orientation and Mobility Specialist
Pay Range:$55-65/hour
Job Description:Ampersand Therapy is hiring an itinerant Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year in the Seattle WA area.
Job Highlights:
- Position: Orientation and Mobility Specialist
- Setting: In-person and school-based
- Schedule: Full time, approximately 8:00 AM-3:30 PM
- Maximum Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
- Dates: August 27, 2026-June 19, 2027
- Grade Levels: All grade levels
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate students' orientation and mobility needs in school and community environments
- Provide individualized instruction in safe and independent travel skills
- Teach skills involving spatial awareness, sensory efficiency, route planning, and cane use
- Develop, implement, and monitor orientation and mobility goals within students' IEPs
- Recommend environmental modifications and mobility supports
- Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired, families, educators, and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary evaluations
- Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student progress
- Travel between assigned schools and instructional environments as needed
Qualifications:
- Current Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist credential or applicable state authorization
- Bachelor's or master's degree in orientation and mobility, visual impairments, or a related field
- Experience working with students across multiple grade levels preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills
- Ability to travel between school sites and provide instruction in varied environments
