Full Job Description
We are looking for an Optometrist Leader to join our Austin, TX vision center [s]. We offer a competitive salary [starting base of $130K - $140K DOE], lucrative incentive plan(s), up to $1500 CE Credit & paid CE Days, PTO, paid holidays, a 401k with a match, comprehensive medical benefits, a more medical mode of practice.

Relocation assistance provided for those that qualify.

The Optometrist - LASIK Services plays a key role in delivering high-quality refractive surgical care by supporting patients throughout the preoperative and postoperative process. This position partners closely with surgeons, clinical staff, and leadership to ensure excellent clinical outcomes, strong team performance, and an outstanding patient experience. In addition to providing comprehensive eye care, the optometrist will contribute to optometric mentorship, training, chart review, and selected administrative and leadership responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Care

Perform comprehensive preoperative and postoperative eye examinations for LASIK and other refractive surgery patients.

Evaluate patient candidacy, monitor postoperative outcomes, and manage routine postoperative care in collaboration with surgeons.

Review and document patient charts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards.

Provide clinical guidance to ensure best practices and consistent standards of care across the vision center(s).

Optometric Mentorship and Training

Mentor and support optometrists and clinical staff through coaching, education, and professional development.

Assist with onboarding and ongoing training of optometric team members.

Promote clinical excellence, continuous learning, and adherence to established clinical protocols.

Administrative and Leadership Support

Assist with administrative support related to team schedules, workflow coordination, and coverage planning.

Participate in team performance reviews, including coaching, feedback, and development planning.

Support initiatives focused on quality improvement, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

Collaborate with leadership to help maintain a positive, high-performing team culture.

Scheduling, Availability, and Coverage

Be reasonably available to work flexible hours as established for the vision center(s).

Work within the hours of operation of the vision center(s), which include some evening and Saturday hours to accommodate patient needs.

Acknowledge that hours of operation may be periodically adjusted based on patient demand and business needs.

From time to time, provide on-call coverage for the vision center(s) to ensure the highest quality of patient care.

Qualifications

Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.

Active and unrestricted optometry license in applicable state(s).

Experience in refractive surgery or co-management preferred.

Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to patient-centered care.

Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and collaborate effectively with clinical teams.

Strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills.

Ability to adapt to a dynamic clinical environment with flexible scheduling needs.

Work Environment

Clinical setting within one or more LCA vision centers.
