The RoleThe CAD Technician III - Federal is responsible for preparing, updating, and maintaining accurate Inside Plant and Outside Plant telecommunications drawings in accordance with established engineering standards, project requirements, and documentation procedures. This role works closely with engineering teams to translate field notes, design inputs, and technical information into clear, compliant AutoCAD drawings and supporting project documentation.
The Main Responsibilities- Create, revise, and maintain Inside Plant drawings, including floor plans and rack elevations, and Outside Plant drawings, including fiber route and detail drawings, using AutoCAD and engineering field notes.
- Develop and update project documentation in Microsoft Excel, including cable running lists, tables of contents, revision logs, and other required tracking materials.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other project stakeholders to support drawing deliverables, schedule commitments, and estimated labor requirements.
- Contribute effectively in a team environment by supporting organizational objectives, following established procedures, and communicating project status, issues, and documentation needs in a timely manner.
What We Look For in a Candidate- Minimum of four years of recent drafting experience using AutoCAD 2020 or later.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for documentation and tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to learn, interpret, and apply technical information, standards, and procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and project teams.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance and the ability to maintain eligibility for access to classified information, including successful completion of any required government security reinvestigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting mapping functions using ArcView or comparable geographic information system tools.
- Ability to develop Lisp or VBA routines that improve drawing efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance documentation accuracy.
CompensationThis information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$81,206 - $108,273 in these states: VA
