About the role- Analyst will work within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Special Operations & Low Intensity Conflict (OASW(SO/LIC)), to support the Office of the Secretariat for Special Operations providing operational and force structure analysis to support the office's special operations forces (SOF) organize, train and equip oversight responsibilities. You will work within the Center for Special Operations Analysis.
What you'll do- Conduct quantitative analyses of complex special operations forces manning, resourcing and equipping issues.
- Identifies trends, risks, gaps and opportunities affecting mission performance.
- Develop recommendations based on analytical findings and research results.
- Conduct studies, modeling and simulation, war games, and assessments of SOF fore development and modernization.
- Support planning, programming, budgeting and execution activities.
- Assess alternative courses of action to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop analytical models, studies, and assessments to support mission requirements.
- Interpret findings and translate technical information into actionable recommendations.
Qualifications- Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility, Active TS/SCI preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in Alexandria, VA up to five days per week during core business hours (7:30 AM to 4:30 PM/ 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM as appropriate).
- Demonstrated expertise with operations research, systems analysis and quantitative analytical methodologies.
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, science, mathematics or a related technical discipline (operations research) and at least three years of related analysis experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Scripting and/or programming experience (Python, R)
- Ability to work well in team environments.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Experience with Special Operations as an Operator, or SOF-focused Civil Servant is preferred.
The pay range for this position is between $135,000 and $190,000 per year based on experience and other relevant factors. This position is benefits-eligible.
