Operations Manager Altec Service Group The Altec Service Group has a current opening for an Operations Manager. The purpose of this position is to deliver customer satisfaction through continuous improvement and teamwork, providing strong leadership and clarity in the Service Operations Group.
This role owns the day-to-day execution of Service Operations across a defined geographic area of operations of service centers and mobile service teams. It is accountable for safety, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and technician capacity across that geographic area of operations, translating organizational goals into daily action at the shop and mobile level.
This is one of two Operations Manager roles within the Service Operations Group, each leading a defined geographic area of operations. Together, the two Operations Managers share leadership of the full Shop and Mobile organization, doubling operational leadership capacity to match the scale and complexity of a growing Service organization.
This position will lead the Western area of operations of the Service Operations Group. The selected candidate must live within and operate from the geographic area they are responsible for. Note: The Western area of operation boundaries and base location have not yet been finalized and are subject to change. The current Western border states are Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
$133,800-149,000 Annually depending on skill and experience
Salary varies relative to experience and location. Job openings exist across the U.S. and Canada.
Basic Education, Experience, and Skills All qualified, eligible internal candidates shall be considered during the selection process. Preference will be given to candidates with:
- 3+ years of experience leading leaders (managers of managers with supervisors with direct reports).
- Experience overseeing operations across multiple states or regions.
- Demonstrated responsibility for P&L, budget management, or operational financial performance.
- Experience with forecasting and executing hiring and retention strategies.
- Experience supporting rapid growth, acquisitions, business integration, or new location openings.
Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.
- Bachelor's Degree required. Business or related field preferred.
- 5+ years leadership experience w/ full-time direct reports
- Ability to lead and manage direct reports in multi-state areas.
- Mechanical aptitude, product or industry knowledge required.
- Must have strong communication skills to gather, interpret, and present information.
- Must have demonstrated project management skills.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Current valid driver's license.
Major Responsibilities - Help develop and carry out strategic initiatives within the Service Operations team.
- Develop processes and strategies to identify and track improvements of key drivers within service.
- Involved with the development and implementation of new technology and business management systems.
- Oversee and improve integration of new and existing business units.
- Ensure focus and improved results in the recruiting, turnover, and training areas.
- Effectively communicate any customer needs/requests outside Service's scope to the appropriate Altec entity.
- Establish and maintain positive customer relationships.

- Manage resources - allocate people, equipment, and materials to meet customer demand and operational targets, ensuring the right resources are in the right place at the right time.
- Drive financial performance - monitor revenue, cost, and margin at the regional and shop level; identify variances early and take corrective action.
- Lead safety - set the standard for safety across shop and mobile, ensuring participation in safety initiatives including RCIs, fall protection rollout, and AFMVA reduction efforts.
- Develop people - coach, mentor, and hold Regional and Area Managers accountable; build bench strength through succession planning and intentional development.
- Grow capacity - execute hiring plans to maintain technician staffing at target levels, and support new shop openings and mobile expansion to meet demand.
- Ensure compliance - maintain consistent adherence to company standards, regulatory requirements, and operating rhythms across all regions.
- Travel 50 - 75% of the time.
