If you answered YES, this role was built for you. Keep reading.
THE ROLE
This is a new, senior operations role and a true business-owner seat. The Operations Manager leads our commissary and our catering and events operations and is accountable for how they perform and earn, and coordinates with our roastery. Our Commissary Manager, Event Logistics Lead, Repair & Maintenance Tech, and delivery team report to you. You work hand in hand with our Head Roaster, who keeps day-to-day authority over roasting, so every café, catering, and event order gets its coffee on time. You will run budgets and a P&L, own inventory and cost control, and build the systems that make us faster, more consistent, and more profitable. Our Sales team wins catering and event business, writes the proposals, and creates the Brew Event Order (BEO); you make sure every order is supplied, executed flawlessly, and paid on time.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Commissary & Production Management: Oversee commissary operations to ensure full, on-time fulfillment across all cafés, wholesale, and catering accounts; drive performance against COGS, labor budgets, waste, and quality standards.
Roastery & Cross-Department Coordination: Partner closely with the Head Roaster to align production and staging of coffee and cold brew with event and retail demand.
Event Operations & BEO Execution: Review and operationalize Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for drop-off and full-service events; lead multi-point verification timelines, venue coordination, and rapid post-event reporting.
Logistics, Delivery & Warehouse: Direct warehouse staging, fleet routes, vehicle inspections, and delivery schedules to ensure seamless transport across all locations and event venues.
Financial & Inventory Oversight: Own the P&L and budgets for the commissary and catering/events; track margins, manage end-to-end inventory systems, and execute cost-saving initiatives.
Billing & Vendor Compliance: Manage post-event billing within 48 hours, oversee accounts receivable escalations, and maintain compliance standards across enterprise client portals (e.g., Coupa, major hospitality/resort systems).
Team Leadership & Development: Directly manage and develop the Commissary Manager, Event Logistics Lead, Maintenance Tech, and delivery staff, fostering cross-training and bench strength.
Continuous Improvement & Strategy: Establish scalable SOPs, operational dashboards, and cross-functional handoffs; collaborate with Sales and executive leadership to ensure new revenue streams are operationally viable and profitable.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Commissary- Waste, COGS, and labor against budget; quality and production standards met
Roastery Coordination- Final BEOs distributed to the roastery 72 hours before events; event coffee supply confirmed and fulfillment timing met
Catering & Events- Catering & Events margin and cost-to-sale; event issues logged and resolved; 72-hour BEO notice standard met
Billing & Cash- Invoices issued within 48 hours of the event; collections follow-up at Day 15 and Day 30; first-pass invoice acceptance
Team- Regular one-on-ones and scorecards for every direct report; a developed bench in every area
Growth & Systems- Documented SOPs live for each area; new revenue and cost-savings initiatives delivered each quarter
WHAT YOU BRING
Experience: 5+ years in F&B operations (commissary, catering, events, roastery, or hospitality) with hands-on logistics management.
Leadership: Proven track record of managing and coaching teams-including department leads-with strong cross-functional collaboration skills to influence partner teams (e.g., roasting, sales).
Financial & Inventory Acumen: Experience owning a P&L, managing food and labor budgets, tracking COGS and waste KPIs, and running end-to-end inventory and basic invoicing/collections workflows.
Process & Systems: Demonstrated ability to build scalable SOPs, solve fast-moving on-site problems, and improve operating margins.
Tech Stack: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, and Asana; experience with Square, QuickBooks, and inventory systems preferred.
Logistics & Physical Demands: Valid driver's license with willingness to travel between sites; ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work flexible hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends).
Certifications: Current Food Handler card required; ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification (company-sponsored upon hire).
