Full Job Description
Role Overview

This role exists for candidates whose experience does not map cleanly to a posted position but who may be able to materially increase Reaxiomatic's ability to execute. The company is at its foundational stage and is looking for people who can take ownership of ambiguous, multidisciplinary work in aerospace, defense, hard tech, or deep tech environments where schedule, cost, reliability, regulatory constraints, and system performance must be traded deliberately.

This is not a general interest posting. Strong applicants should be able to point to specific work they personally owned and delivered: hardware, software, systems, operations, analysis, supplier execution, test programs, infrastructure, or other technical work that moved a difficult program forward under real constraints.

Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ownership of a substantial deliverable, system, program element, or operational capability in a startup, new-entrant, or unusually execution-focused environment in aerospace, defense, hard tech, deep tech, or an adjacent regulated technical field.
  • Ability to operate across disciplines and connect technical work to program priorities, business constraints, operational use, and downstream maintainability. Candidates should be able to make sound trades among cost, schedule, reliability, performance, usability, and regulatory burden.
  • Evidence of extreme agency and accountability: identifying what matters, driving work to completion, and taking responsibility for outcomes without waiting for complete instructions or mature organizational structure.
  • Ability to build or integrate systems, processes, or workstreams that are simple enough to maintain, reliable enough to trust, and clear enough for other capable people to understand and extend.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at an aerospace or defense startup that has flown, tested, fielded, or delivered real hardware under aggressive schedules.
  • Background spanning more than one technical or operational domain, such as aircraft systems, avionics, embedded software, ground systems, test operations, manufacturing, supplier management, maintenance, certification, defense acquisition, flight sciences, or field operations.
  • Experience working with commercial off-the-shelf components, vendor-provided systems, subcontractors, or external technical partners where integration quality mattered as much as component selection.

Reporting Structure and Scope

This role reports to the Founder and CEO and is based onsite in San Diego. The role is expected to be an individual contributor position at first, with no direct reports, but may include ownership of vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, or external partners.

Initial scope will depend on the candidate's background and the company's needs at the time of hiring. The right candidate may own a technical system, an operational function, an integration effort, an analysis thread, a test capability, a supplier workstream, or another area where clear responsibility is more important than conventional job boundaries.

Successful candidates will be expected to work close to the company's highest-priority problems, make disciplined trades under incomplete information, and help shape how Reaxiomatic executes from its earliest phase.
