An Oil and Gas Pipeline Design Engineer (PE) is responsible for the design, analysis, and integrity of piping systems that support oil, gas, and water conveyance and transportation operations. This role develops efficient piping layouts, performs hydraulic and stress analyses, reviews P&IDs and isometric drawings, and ensures all systems meet ASME, API, ASTM, and water-industry standards. The engineer supports fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting for issues such as flow, pressure, vibration, and corrosion, ensuring full compliance with project requirements and HSE regulations.
What it takes:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, or a closely related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, including substantial hands-on oil and/or natural gas pipeline design experience.
- Demonstrated experience performing detailed engineering design of oil and/or natural gas pipelines, including pipeline routing, alignment sheets, tie-ins, hydraulic calculations, and construction-ready engineering deliverables. Experience with water conveyance or facility piping is beneficial but does not replace direct oil and gas pipeline design experience.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and construction drawings
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the US, with the ability to obtain licensure in applicable project jurisdictions and independently prepare, review, and seal engineering documents in accordance with state licensing requirements.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency with relevant engineering design and analysis software; AutoCAD, CADWorx, and CAESAR II experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.4, B31.8, and other applicable pipeline engineering codes and standards.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to accommodate occasional travel for meetings, site visits, and short-term construction assignments
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
