Job Title: Nursing Shift Supervisor
Department:  Leadership                   
Location: Newark Wayne Hospital & Clifton Springs Hospital                          
Hours Per Week: 36
Schedule: Days, Evenings, Nights, every other weekend and holiday                     

SUMMARY:
The Nursing Shift Supervisor is a Nursing Leader who serves as a resource for problem solving, provides clinical expertise, facilitates staff mentoring and coaching, facilitates patient flow during the off shifts (typically, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides on-site leadership and oversight during off-shifts in hospital or long-term care settings, managing patient care delivery, staffing, and emergent situations in the absence of onsite management.
  • Supports staff through clinical problem-solving, mentoring, coaching, and reinforcing hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Rounds on patients with concerns, admitted Emergency Department patients, and actively facilitates patient flow and decision-making in collaboration with the care team.
  • Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive care, while advocating for patient rights and shared decision-making.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation and communication of shift occurrences, safety concerns, and staffing adjustments; serves as liaison across departments and with leadership.
  • Maintains required education, participates in leadership development, ensures fiscal responsibility, and engages in community and professional healthcare activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License
  • Effective 1/1/2014, BLS required for all new candidates prior to hire
  • BLS required for all internal team members by 12/31/2014

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$85,000.00 - $120,000.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
