Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: The major responsibility of the position is clinical instruction of students in either the Associate Degree Program in Nursing or the Practical Nursing Certificate Program. Responsible for teaching, supervising, and evaluating Quincy College nursing students in the clinical setting. The work schedule may include late afternoon or evening instruction and/or weekend clinical instruction.

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Master of Science Degree in Nursing Education (MSN) required or a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) with enrollment in an MSN program from an accredited college or university with completion within three years of hire. CNEcl certification preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current licensure in good standing as a registered nurse in Massachusetts required;
  • Minimum of two years full-time employment in nursing or its equivalent within the past five years and evidence of clinical competence in area of clinical instruction required;
  • Prior teaching experience preferred;
  • Demonstrates understanding and commitment of Nursing Education and working with a diverse population.
  • Ability to adapt, manage and prioritize in role.
  • Flexibility and commitment in work arrangements required.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to meet clinical site CORI requirements pursuant to licensing and CHSB regulations.

Immunization requirements consistent with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health College (Postsecondary Institutions): Two MMR's or positive titers indicating immunity, Completed Hepatitis B series and/or positive titer indicating immunity, Varicella antibody titers, history of DTaP primary series or age-appropriate catch-up vaccination, Td within 10 years, Annual negative PPD, TSpot, or QuantiFERON (Preferred), or Chest X-ray within 5 years for positive responders, Covid-19 vaccination per clinical facility requirements, and annual flu shot.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct, instruct, and facilitate student learning outcomes in the clinical or laboratory setting promoting student use of clinical judgement process model
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, students, and members of the agency intraprofessional team;
  • Engage with students in a teaching/learning process that prepares students for the practice of nursing;
  • Serve as a professional role model upholding regulatory, ethical, and nursing standards of practice;
  • Evaluate student performance and competence in the clinical settings;
  • Prepare patient assignments, supervise, educate, and evaluate students in diverse clinical settings;
  • Advise assigned students related to achievement of student clinical outcomes;
  • Maintain attendance and clinical experience progress records for assigned students;
  • Maintain communication with lead course faculty and the applicable Assistant Dean of Nursing regarding student progress and/or instructional issues;
  • Collaborate with college personnel and the staff of health care agencies;
  • Participates in clinical agency orientation if applicable;
  • Comply with clinical agency policies and procedures as applicable;
  • Demonstrate motivation, self-direction, and perseverance toward achieving the philosophy and mission of the Division of Nursing;
  • Continue to improve expertise in nursing and teaching through academic study, clinical practice, and other appropriate professional development activities;
  • Participate in mandatory training/coursework, including new adjunct faculty orientation and clinical site orientation as applicable:
    • Title IX and Sexual Misconduct
    • Non-Discrimination & Sexual Harassment
    • Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting
    • FERPA
    • Municipal Ethics Law
  • Attend faculty and/or student meetings;
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

Salary Range:

Bachelors Degree: $65 per hour
Masters Degree: $70 per hour
Ph.D.: $75 per hour
