Provides direction to staff in regards to patient care.
General SummaryThe nurse practitioner or physician assistant works in collaboration with our urologists in a hospital-based outpatient clinic. The role requires strong, independent clinical judgment in a fast-paced setting. There is an option to take on inpatient and call responsibilities over time.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
- Obtain medical histories.
- Diagnose and treat health care and chronic diseases.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies such as labs and x-rays.
- Prescribes medications and other treatments.
- Promotes positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and counseling.
- See new and established urology patients in the outpatient clinic
- Order and coordinate urologic procedures with the collaborating physician
- Manage in-baskets, clinical questions, and daily practice issues
- Provide conservative, evidence-based urologic care and follow-up
- Participate in outreach events such as lunch and learns and medical staff meetings
- Collaborate with physicians as needed.
Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To- Emphasizes wellness and self-care to patients and family members.
- Researches medical findings and studies and incorporates as appropriate.
- Selects cost-effective and appropriate diagnostic fees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities RequiredRequired:
- Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
- Completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
- Active and appropriate state NP licensure.
- Knowledge of nurse practitioner theory, practice and medical care, medical equipment and instruments, and OSHA regulations.
- Current, unrestricted Ohio license
- Full prescriptive authority on hire
- Current or eligible DEA in the State of Ohio
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and determine solutions in order to best serve the patients.
- BLs or CPR certification.
Education:
- Master's degree from an accredited school.
