Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Location: Martinsville, Indiana & North Vernon, Indiana
Department: Psychiatry Clinics
Employment Type: Full-Time
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive psychiatric services to patients, including psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, treatment planning, and follow-up care. This role works collaboratively with psychiatrists and other members of the integrated healthcare team to meet the behavioral health needs of patients.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner may also participate in program evaluation, staff development, data collection, and other activities that support the delivery of high-quality behavioral healthcare.
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including obtaining relevant health and medical histories and ordering appropriate diagnostic tests.
Evaluate, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients experiencing mental health and/or addiction-related concerns.
Provide psychiatric medication management and prescribe psychotropic medications in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and established collaborative practice or supervision requirements.
Provide brief psychotherapy and other therapeutic interventions as appropriate to the patient's treatment needs and scope of practice.
Provide services utilizing professional experience and clinical judgment to meet the needs of patients and achieve treatment goals.
Maintain a caseload as determined in collaboration with supervisory staff.
Provide comprehensive follow-up care and ongoing evaluation for patients under their care.
Communicate and collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, and other members of the care team as necessary to identify patient needs and establish treatment goals and objectives.
Participate in patient staffing and case consultation meetings as requested.
Attend required meetings, trainings, and staff development activities organized by Centerstone Medical Group or as assigned.
Support management and program needs, including data collection, program evaluation, grant applications, and maintenance of service contracts, as applicable.
Participate in quality improvement and other activities designed to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
Provide consultation and support to internal staff and other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
Collaborate with and provide support to other providers, students, residents, and trainees as assigned.
Adhere to Centerstone Medical Group policies, procedures, operational guidelines, and applicable professional standards and ethical requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, families, staff, providers, and community partners.
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships through telephone, telemedicine, and in-person interactions.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Ability to follow direction, accept supervision, and exercise sound professional judgment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
Ability to document accurately and efficiently in an electronic health record and communicate through professional electronic correspondence.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal effectively with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse patient population and demonstrate sensitivity to individual patient needs.
Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution with preparation as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Current national certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through a nationally recognized certifying body.
Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure/certification as required by state law.
Must maintain all required professional licenses, certifications, and credentials throughout employment.
Previous experience in behavioral health or psychiatry is preferred.
