Family Birth Center Nurse Manager

 

Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital, a member of Commonspirit Health. Mercy San Juan’s Family Birth Center is the Level 3 High Risk Facility within the greater Sacramento Dignity Hospitals. Our Family Birth Center has 28 beds consisting of 12 labor beds, 2 Operating Rooms, a 2 patient PACU, 2 triage bays, and a 14 bed private Mother-Baby unit. We are Joint Commission Certified for Perinatal Care and we follow the 10 steps to successful breastfeeding. As a high risk facility, we receive Antepartum patient transfers from all over Northern California that can remain with us for extended periods of time until they can safely deliver. We have our Level III NICU adjoining our Family Birth Center that supports our patients and our care team. We average 150 deliveries a month supported by Nurse Shift Managers, a Perinatal Safety Specialist and a Perinatal Certified Nurse Specialist. At Mercy San Juan Medical Center we have an in-house OB hospitalist and a designated OB anesthesiologist to support our patients and staff.

 

As our Nursing Manager, you will be a dynamic leader, guiding and empowering our nursing team to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care through continuous growth and operational excellence.Every day, you will lead and mentor Registered Nurses, oversee clinical operations, and advocate for patient and team needs, driving professional development and achieving unit goals.To be successful in this role, you will embody accountability and confidence with superior communication skills for all interactions. You'll skillfully navigate challenges, ensuring individual performance and overall unit success.

  • Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
  • Coordinates the activities of the unit during a particular shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff.
  • Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.

Required: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years related nursing experience AND one year of leadership experience in the specialty.
  • Current CA RN license 
  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS and NRP
