Overview

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) designs, develops, and implements systems and applications to support core mission functions of the agency, using government staff resources.  These applications are running on Windows and Linux operating systems housed in a Nutanix platform. The OIG requires a qualified, full-time person with expertise and experience in IT network management to work 40 hours per week. This individual is capable of performing critical administrative operations as identified in the scope of work.  This individual will be expected to work with OIG staff and contract support to analyze the existing OIG network environment and recommend a plan of action to address items identified in the scope of work.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage and maintain Windows and Linux servers.
  • Manage and maintain IT security configurations and tools.
  • Manage and maintain virtual environment.
  • Assist with the management of the OIG’s O365 environment.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of OIG Cloud environment.
  • Provide technical support to the Branch of Database Applications and Applications and Branch of Information Security staff as needed.
  • Provide technical support to end users as needed.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Certification:
    • Security + CE required
  • Server Management and Support:
  • 5 year's experience demonstrating a proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, specifically Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. 
  • Experience in managing virtualization technologies.
  • Ability to perform routine server monitoring and performance benchmarking.
  •  Network Administration:
  • Skilled in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and software.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and resolution of network issues.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and standards.
  •  Network Security:
  • Expertise in implementing and managing network security solutions.
  • Familiarity with firewalls and vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
  •  Active Directory Management:
  • Experience in managing Active Directory environment, including Group Policy creation and management.
  • Ability to manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  •  Cross-Functional IT Support:
  • Provide support across various IT domains, addressing hardware and software issues.
  •  Cloud Support:
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure and AWS).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelors’ degree from an accredited institution
  • AZURE/AWS certification 
  • CCNA certification

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
