National Economic Research Associates, Inc. is seeking candidates for the following full-time positions based in the New York, NY office (A hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with company policies.):

Consultant: (Multiple Positions)

We will count on you to:

Conduct economic, statistical, and financial modeling to address a wide range of complex challenges within the Securities and Finance and Mass Torts Practice. Evaluate issues related to class certification, price impact, loss causation, materiality, and damages in securities class action cases. Carry out quantitative and qualitative analyses of economic trends concerning alleged violations of securities laws, ERISA regulations, and contract breaches. Examine historical data and perform forecasting to assess potential risks associated with product liability and mass tort claims. Apply advanced statistical techniques to analyze participation patterns in mass tort cases. Value start-up companies, established businesses, and sophisticated financial instruments. Develop econometric models using cutting-edge statistical methods, extensive datasets, and programming tools. Stay informed on business and financial sector developments by reviewing financial publications, investment banking research, public databases, trade journals, and proprietary sources. Keep current with the latest academic research in finance, economics, and statistics to enhance daily work. Prepare reports covering broad economic trends, finance and statistical issues, and specific client business challenges. Engage in meetings with clients, external experts, auditors, boards of directors, insurers, and other stakeholders, and contribute to business development activities alongside senior team members. This position has no dedicated full-time direct reports but will plan, direct, and supervise the work performed by junior staff on a project-by-project basis.

What you need to have:

Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Public Policy, or a related field plus three (3) years of experience in the position offered or a related position. In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Public Policy, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in the position offered or a related position. Must have three (3) years (or five (5) years with a Bachelor's) of experience with all of the following: Utilizing R and Python programming languages to clean datasets as well as develop and validate econometric models including linear regression and time series analyses; Constructing and interpreting confidence intervals for model output; Performing statistical forecasts by analyzing seasonality, long term trends, and correlations; Designing, developing, and debugging complex Excel VBA macros to automate repetitive data processing tasks enhancing operational efficiency; Applying INDEX-MATCH, INDIRECT, OFFSET, and SUMIFS functions to execute intricate data manipulation and cleaning; Leveraging Excel's advanced charting and tabulation capabilities to visualize data and generate insights; Conducting in-depth fundamental research on publicly listed entities by systematically analyzing SEC filings including 10-K and 10-Qs, equity research reports, and market news, and supplementing with third-party datasets to generate comprehensive company profiles; Using Factiva, FactSet, Bloomberg LP, and S&P Capital IQ to collect financial filings and news articles; Performing rigorous valuation analyses of both public and private firms by constructing discounted cash flow (DCF) models, calculating trading multiples, and estimating discount rates through application of Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) and Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) frameworks; Drafting parts of expert reports, memos, and deposition questions, preparing trial exhibits and preparing cross examination questions for trials.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $235,000 per year. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
