Department Information

The Emissions Compliance department consists of approximately 46 professionals who work with environmental regulatory agencies to manage engine emissions and vehicle GHG compliance. Each year, we perform compliance and regulatory tests on more than 1,000 on-board diagnostics and prepare more than 15,000 pages of documentation per engine to ensure PACCAR's engines comply with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Air Resources Board (CARB), and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) regulations.

Requisition Summary

Join the Emissions Compliance team to drive regulatory compliance across all North American vehicle programs as the Vehicle Product Creation Process (PCP) Emissions Compliance Engineer for North American projects. This position ensures timely market compliance and reduces regulatory risk.

The Emissions Compliance Operations team consists of three professionals and ensures Emissions Compliance is integrated into the PCP lifecycle from start to finish. A counterpart to this role, located at DAF, focuses on the Global Powertrain PCP. Together, these roles ensure Emissions Compliance support across all major PACCAR programs and products. These positions report to the Emissions Compliance Operations Manager.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Manage Emissions Compliance deliverables for active Vehicle PCP projects by participating in program management meetings and coordinating requirements across the Emissions Compliance team.
  • Partner with Regulatory Engineering to monitor emerging regulatory requirements and identify potential impacts to compliance processes early.
  • Maintain an inventory of compliance-related business processes and ensure they are current, effective, and aligned with best practices.
  • Support PCP process development and continuous improvement activities for Vehicle Division and global processes.
  • Lead stakeholder discussions to gather process-user input and drive process creation or updates through completion.
  • Collaborate with Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF quality and reliability teams to audit compliance-related processes.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams across the global organization to support Emissions Compliance objectives.
  • Provide regular status updates on PCP compliance activities, risks, and deliverables to the broader compliance team.
  • This position requires the ability to travel up to 5%.
  • PACCAR currently requires 100% onsite work.


Qualifications
  • 5+ years of related engineering, certification, homologation, or compliance experience in the automotive or heavy-duty vehicle industry.
  • Experience working within a PMO or project management organization; PMP certification preferred. Kenworth or Peterbilt PMO experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project or similar project management software.
  • Proven ability to develop structure and drive clarity in evolving regulatory environments.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly in business and engineering terms and develop practical proposed solutions.
  • Understanding of EPA and CARB greenhouse gas vehicle emissions regulations. Awareness of heavy-duty truck fuel-efficiency technologies, such as aerodynamics, is helpful.
  • Content management and process development experience preferred.
