We are searching for the best talent for an MSAT Packaging Exp. Engineer to join our Team! This is an onsite/hybrid role.

Position Summary

Support the deployment of the Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicines Supply Chain (JJIMSC) vision "Transforming our world, delivering affordable medicines to anyone, anywhere, any day by focusing on driving performance of the manufacturing network, its physical assets, processes, products, technical resources and optimizing Cost of Goods produced.

Strategic Operation & Packaging is part of J&J Innovative Medicine supply chain, a global organization responsible for supplying medicines to markets around the world. With Quality as their primary focus, this group strives to provide access and affordability through innovation and strong collaboration with their R&D and Commercial partners to deliver life changing solutions for patients in need.

J&J Innovative Medicine supply chain (JJIMSC) is recruiting for a Packaging Exp. Engineer to be part of the Strategic Operation & Packaging department, within the Manufacturing Science and Technologies organization.

The Packaging Exp. Engineer will be responsible for providing Advanced Therapies, distribution studies, shipping route verification, and other packaging-related SME support to J&J Innovative Medicine Supply Chain (JJIMSC).

In this position, the Senior Packaging Engineer will lead and collaborate with multi-functional teams to develop, test, qualify, leverage, and commercialize advance therapies solutions for both new products and lifecycle management, while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and JJSC guidelines.

In addition, they will provide secondary and tertiary packaging engineering support for new product launches, technical transfers, and lifecycle management-related activities/projects for all JJIM internal and external packaging sites, as applicable.

General Responsibilities
  • Provide lifecycle packaging equipment, process technology transfer and new product launch technical support as required by JJIMSC and PES sites in alignment with current and in-process standards, including Commissioning and Qualification (C&Q) for PES sites and Process Performance Validation (PPV/PPQ) across all JJIMSC/MTO platforms (SM, LM and AT platforms).
  • Lead / drive the following Transportation Study related activities for the supply chain: Physical/Simulated Distribution Testing and Temperature Control (Cold Chain) Qualification activities, as required.
  • Provide support to product protection (physical and/or simulated), packaging line trials, packaging equipment/material qualifications, child resistant requirements, human factor studies and patient centric design.
  • Support Shipping Route verification (SRV) related activities, as required.
  • Provide day-to-day Secondary and Distribution (Tertiary) Packaging material support to the supply chain.
  • Provide site technical support (internal and external) with packaging related quality and compliance investigations including equipment assessment, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis processes.
  • Work with our packaging sites to identify and deliver cost improvement or cost avoidance projects that result in lower unit cost. In addition, support the internal and external sites with packaging equipment and processes efficiency improvement initiatives / activities, as required.
  • As required, design and develop secondary and distribution (tertiary) packages for optimal equipment performance and process compatibility, considering patient/end user preferences and limitations.
  • Within the context of secondary/tertiary packaging for new product launches and technical transfers, drive the development and implementation of leading-edge technology for all packaging locations managed by JJIMSC (internal and external).
  • Optimize design, program, processes, and technical platform to meet current and future needs, have knowledge of packaging materials, equipment, and package design/testing.
  • Plan/verifies and controls project and/or program costs and schedules, as needed.
  • Support sustainability / environmentally friendly packaging initiatives as required.


Qualifications

Required:
  • Master's degree in Packaging Engineering or Equivalent Technical / Engineering discipline is required.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of related experience in packaging, labeling, and manufacturing processes is required.
  • Project management skills required.
  • Knowledge in the design, development, testing, qualification, and commercialization of Passive Shipping Solutions is required.
  • Experience with secondary & tertiary packaging materials & designs is required.
  • Knowledge of packaging distribution / transportation testing (for cold chain & non- cold chain products) is required.
  • Validation / qualification of packaging equipment, material & processes is preferred.
  • Experience in the areas of pharma, chemical, biologics, medical devices, or other regulated products areas is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cGMP is required.

Preferred:
  • The ability to be effective in a global environment with the ability to manage and lead technical issues with multi-functional global partners is required.
  • Ability to lead and influence others in a complex matrix organization is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across all levels of the company, across the supply chain, deliver and with the commercial franchises as appropriate is preferred.
  • Project Management (PMP), Lean Six Sigma, Process Excellence, FPX, and Kepner Tregoe Certifications are preferred.


Location: Raritan (US)Titusville (US) or America, with a preference for North America.

Languages: Fluent in written and spoken English. Fluency in other languages is a plus.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Works in an international environment across different time zones. Travel: Min.20% - as required based on project conditions and business needs

$79,000.00 - $127,650.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
• Vacation -120 hours per calendar year
• Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado -48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year
• Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year
• Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
• Parental Leave - 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
• Bereavement Leave - 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
• Caregiver Leave - 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
