*$10K Sign on Bonus for Experienced MRI Technologist* NMC is currently recruiting a MRI Technologist, in Diagnostic Imaging, for evening shift. The position is full-time (80 hours bi-weekly), generally Monday-Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (40 hours per week). Pay Range $34.87 to $51.30 USD MRI Technologist JOB SUMMARY: The MRI Technologist performs MRI examinations in accordance with ACR accreditation practice guidelines and NMC protocols. The Technologist may also perform examinations, within the scope of practice, in which they hold additional certification and have determined competency. The MRI Technologist works under the guidance and direct supervision of the MRI Supervisor. PRE-REQUISITES: Experience: Preferred Experienced Radiologic Technologist of 1-2 years cross trained in MRI. Education: ARRT, ARMRIT or CAMRT registered as an MR technologist Certifications: BLS required, IV Certification required RELATIONSHIPS: • Reports To: o DI Supervisor, DI Director • Supervises: o n/a • Other Contacts: o Radiologist, Medical staff, patients, hospital employees, other healthcare facilities, private physician offices, public & volunteers SCOPE: • Machinery or Equipment Used: o The Technologist may also perform and utilize equipment, within the scope of practice, in which they hold additional certification and have determined competency. • Physical Demands: o Occasional: lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, squatting, stooping, climbing, standing, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching (80"), downward pull and upward push of 50 lbs., carrying up to 30 lbs. Frequent: forward reaching (28"), sitting, pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs., lifting table extension up to 4 lbs, carrying up to 30 lbs., seeing/flexion of neck. Constant: walking, handling, fingering. • Working Conditions: • Exposure to electrical, mechanical and radiant energy hazards, possible exposure to blood borne pathogens. • Exposure to crisis situations and unpleasant elements of acute traumatic injuries, occasional stress due to work load and competing priorities. Occasional subject to irregular hours. • Occasional stress/pressure due to Operating Room, inpatient, or Emergency stat exams. • Exposure to cleaning agents. • Required Protective Equipment: oPlastic/lead aprons (full bib), gloves, gowns, goggles, masks, face shield as situation requires. Level II , Extensive knowledge of: a. MRI safety and prevention of accidents and injuries b. MRI Safety Zones and c. Cryogen safety d. Time Varying Gradient and Radio frequency Magnetic Field Related Issues. Prevention of burns and Nerve stimulation. Patient Safety, including pre-screening for contra-indications, Implant research and safety Understands the difference between safe, conditional (also levels of conditional), and unsafe. Manipulates and alters protocols and techniques accordingly. Performs MR imaging protocols and modifies technical parameters in order to maximize MR image quality, including alignment with anatomy. Performs MRI studies according to imaging protocols set forth by the Medical Director Effectively communicates and explains to patients MRI examinations, relieving the patient about any claustrophobia or anxiety concerns Participates in the MRI QA program Competently gains I.V. access and administers I.V. contrast media on a regular basis Assesses the patient's history and makes the necessary changes in technique and/or positioning to compensate for pathology or other considerations Selects appropriate coil for requested exam & positions coil to best demonstrate area of interest & to obtain maximum image quality Obtains optimum MRI imaging throughout the entire region of interest by selecting & applying imaging parameters such as but not limited to: field of view, number of slices, slice thickness and gap, NEX, TR, ET, phase and frequency direction, matrix, phase wrap, Flip/Flop, reconstruction algorithms, saturation bands, speeder parameters, and gating options. Works in and provides coverage in other modalities/satellites appropriate to credentials, scheduling and department needs. Completes annual MRI safety training for level II MR Personnel. #IND123
