Full Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION

Material Planning and Logistics Manager will be responsible for materials planning, procurement, warehouse, and shipping/receiving functions including mastery of ERP - MRP, master scheduling, supp management. The MP&L manager will be responsible for staffing and talent development within the Shipping, Receiving, Traffic, and the Inventory Control Teams.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
• Responsible for on time customer delivery performance, customer order management, planning customer transportation, and all materials functions, policies, and programs including forecasting manpower and facilities requirements.
• Develops strategies to ensure continuous supply and timely procurement of raw materials and supplies to maintain maximum production levels at optimum costs consistent with quality and quantity specifications.
• Manages, controls, and directs staff to achieve Materials profit and loss objectives including minimization of excess and obsolete inventory and dramatically increasing annual inventory turns.
• Ensure safe work practices in accordance with the Company Safety Program, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory agency rules and regulations such as OSHA. Establishes procurement standards, policies, and key vendor relationships/partnerships.
• Drives cost reduction initiatives and technology improvements.
• Manages supplier relationships; establishes and meets supplier quality standards.
• Staffs, structures, and maintains a productive team of highly skilled employees; is a member of Senior Staff.
• Coordinates with Customers, Project Managers, and Production Managers to see that all materials are delivered to production according to schedule.
• Manages in-plant inventories, controls and directs staff to achieve Materials profit and loss objectives including minimization of excess and obsolete inventory and dramatically increasing annual inventory turns.
• Responsible for accurate and regular inventory cycle counts, and controls.
• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and material control systems according to ISO procedures.
• Review, plan and approve purchase orders and change notices.
• Responsible for disposition of excess and obsolete materials.
• Report to Senior Management regularly with regards to objectives, goals, accomplishments and expectations.
• Responsible to train and develop the organization to understand critical concepts and principles of Lean and world class materials management.
• Participate in strategic meetings to ensure continuity and opportunities for improvement are captured and addressed systematically.

Responsible for data integrity for the AS400 MRP/ERP and SAP

Responsible for migrating from AS400 to SAP MRP/ERP platforms

Requirements

B.S., Supply Chain Management or Business discipline is required
• CPIM/APICS certification is preferred.
• Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
• 5 - 10 years direct experience using ERP - MRP systems
• Minimum of 5-10 years of broad background experience in warehouse management, procurement and materials management and related MRP, DRP, or product-specific forecasting in a manufacturing environment.
• Over 4 years of experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.
• Prior experience with BPICS in manufacturing industry would be a strong plus.
• Hands-on type of manager who possesses a high level of drive, integrity, and energy.
• Strong leadership qualities are essential.
• Ability to motivate subordinates and peers and to work toward common objectives through communications.
• Quantitative analytical and project management skills, a strong understanding of integrated supply chain and logistics concepts, the ability to coordinate multiple customer needs and requirements, and outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
