This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of spacecraft development engineers, you will develop aerospace multidisciplinary models and simulations to ensure the correctness and performance of our flight software using platforms like desktop computers, software-in-the-loop simulations, hardware-in-the-loop labs, and on-vehicle simulations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Actively involved in the development of the tools needed to design, build, deploy and support our unique and state-of-the art simulation infrastructure
- Develop and integrate multidisciplinary models for a multi-vehicle simulation using MATLAB, Simulink, and NASA’s TRICK framework
- Collaborate with GN&C and other subsystems and spacecraft systems engineers to support the development of low- and high-fidelity plant models
- Support the development, and execution of simulations and tools required for verification of functionalities
- Interact with engineers across disciplines to assist with and ensure validation of models
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science
- 2+ years of software development and debugging skills, particularly in C/C++, MATLAB, and Simulink
- Strong fundamentals in rigid body dynamics, fluid mechanics, and 1st principles physics-based mathematical models
- Familiarity with auto coding Simulink to C++
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines such as Gitlab
- Experience with configuration management
- Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or higher degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
- Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary, and familiarity with software verification approaches
- Experience developing software for software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
- Experience writing software that efficiently handles the production, distribution and storage of large data sets.
- Experience developing and maintaining simulation models including plant physics, sensors, and actuators
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with verification and validation of aerospace simulations and models
- Familiarity with aerospace systems and design
- Experience using AI to augment workflows, processes, and analysis
Base Pay Range for:
CO applicants is $98,208.00 - $137,491.20
WA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40
